I’ve been in the hobby for over a year now and I love it. I’ve been looking for others to crawl with but I have no luck finding people. I joined a FB group but it’s impossible to post anything there because the mods stink. I’m in northern NJ if anyone is looking for a crawl session.
But the main question is how did you find your current crawling group/friend group?

I thought that everyone these days connected on FB, IG, or whatever other social-media outlets. I'm not part of any of em and hence probably why I crawl alone... or with my wife once in a blue moon. I did go out with my new neighbor after he moved in recently and although he got a kick out of it, I don't see it becoming a regular thing. Sucks... I see these big crawling outings like in CA, UT, etc and I'm jealous as can be.

Get you a Vanquish or Axial t-shirt and go hang out at the grocery store lol... I dunno.

I guess I need an axial shirt lol.
Yeah I feel you man, I see so many cool group crawl videos in other states. The funny thing is I have a few friends and coworkers that think it’s cool but won’t pull the trigger on buying a 1/10 crawler or even a 1/24th

I found my buddies I crawl with here on the forum. I don’t do social media. Call up the local hobby shop and see if they know of any groups or where/when they crawl and try to link up with them. That’s what I did when we vacationed in Asheville,NC. Unfortunately I didn’t get to do much crawling on that trip so I didn’t go meet up with them. Good luck brother!!!

Thanks that’s a good idea I need to look for a shop.
I actually brought my trx4 Bronco with me when I went on vacation in Maine. It was fun!

That's actually how it started for me. I was racing 2wd Short Course trucks with a buddy, who finally saw my 4Runner in the parking lot when I pulled into the local shop/track one day. And BOOM my wallet hasn't been the same since. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I picked up crawling while I lived in Oregon, I’ve been into RC’s damn near my whole life though thanks to my pops. But it didn’t take long for me to realize most of the guys that go out crawling are a different breed. I didn’t have FB at the time.. and although I do now I despise it.. but I was able to find some old posts on here about popular spots so I started going. Every now n then I’d run into people, some friendly, others wouldn’t give you the time of day.. even though we’re literally out doing the same thing. For me sometimes I just went and zoned out driving toy trucks.
Ultimately the guy I ended up crawling with a lot, was the boyfriend of my girlfriend’s co-worker. Although I live in California again we still keep up.
I met twade984 through here, ended up living about an hour apart and we ended up meeting up to go crawl on multiple occasions, and now I consider him a good friend.
Down here though I did the same thing, found the popular spots, went and went to proline by the fire, ended up camping with some local guys and the rest as they say.. is history.
Good luck man, hopefully you’ll meet some people to wheel with, it’s always a good time trying to outdo each other haha

I found my crawling buddies on this site way back when the site was hopping and before FBook took over and ruined things. Most don't come out crawling much anymore as they have moved onto old man hobbies like semi trucks and construction vehicles :ROFLMAO: (just kidding - I have a semi build that's been in the works for years). I still talk to some of them and just went crawling with OSRC this past weekend. I have known these guys for over 10 years and I met them right here on good ol' RCC.

I regularly ride mountain bikes and stumbled upon folks running crawlers on my regular loop through the trails. At the time I had just got into 1/10 scale crawlers and would drive alone so I stopped and got their contact details.

Nowadays we normally crawl on Sundays and setup events through Facebook.

When I bought my second rig, my first rig became my loaner rig. I invited friends and family who I thought might be interested and had them try it out on my local trails. I got one cousin hooked and he ended up getting two rigs too and he now crawls with his GF from time to time.

I'm part of the pandemic crowd, and realistically I already had purchased a HPI Venture since I daily drive a FJ Cruiser. I pity myself for not getting into the hobby at that time since the rig was still one of the newer ones out and I didn't get to snag any of the exclusive parts like SSD brass knuckles.

Fast forward a bit through the latter half of the pandemic and I really started to dig into the hobby. I befriended a few people through Amain's store in Chico, CA when they would host crawl events. One buddy lead to another and I was introduced to local FB groups. From there I can now keep track of monthly meets or whenever people go freestyle and ask the group if anybody wants to join etc. Besides connecting with others on FB, when it comes to actually taking the time to posting and sharing updates on rigs etc, RCC is always gonna be the place to share. I literally need a full day of just updating threads and sorting pictures.

Also, I never saw myself driving 3+ hours away just to crawl with some buddies that I've met once before then drive home haha. I hope you can find some bros that are likeminded around you because it's really a chill day when I can go to the local meets (more like 1-2hr drives for me) and see regular faces.

I was gonna say something similar. I got my cousin and brother in law into the hobby with loaners. The regional sections here can be useful, some are more active than others. I made friends with a few members through them and threads for RC events.

There are a huge number of groups on Facebook! The main thing is to find the right, active groups! There are many empty groups there, but you can find something valuable))

Facebook. My hobbies are the only thing keeping me on there.

Some group admins can be turds. Start your own group. Give it a good name that's easy for locals to find. "Northern NJ Scale Crawlers" or something like that. Small groups are very easy to manage as long as you put a little effort into vetting member requests.

I'm in Burbank, CA looking for the same. Hope you've found some folks by now

few years ago for christmas i bought 3 friends crawlers, just the cheap enduro24's before they upped the price but it got them all into the hobby

invite people to come out and use your trucks, they may like it enough to buy their own

started a local group for mini crawlers

hold a weekly monday event for the mini's, over the past 2 years have grown to a good group who meets weekly and we even have a few indoor spots for the winter. just takes time
