How do you choose your lipo? capacity or weight?

I am currently running 3s 3000mah packs that weight about 277g. After crawling with a few other guys that use 2200 packs, I started feeling like my rig is a bit top heavy. I do want to focus on getting more weight down low however I'm torn between my next set of lipos. On one hand it would seem like a heavy lipo will help with weight over the front tires for climbs but at the same time may reduce the ability to sidehill well, and maybe make the front too heavy during steep downhill sections. I may end up trying something smaller in the 1500-2200 range and under 200g. How do you guys select your lipo? Runtime is not a huge concern as those 3000 packs can get me well over 1.5 hours and I don't mind swapping packs.
 
I always run 2200's because of their lighter weight.

IMO, the weight of the 5000's is a penalty because it's above the chassis sprung weight and not an advantage because it improves forward bias..
 
Could you also use 2 smaller packs in parallel to keep runtime high but also break the weight up and center it over both front and rear axles?
 
It depends for me.

I am running a pair of 6300mah 3s lipos on my http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/2-2-scale-rigs/607233-ultimate-adventuring-bronco.html. They are mounted in the saddle position on the sliders. (estimated 12 hours of run time)They weigh in at 2.25 lbs combined.

My Honcho and http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial-scx10-ii/606525-bubbles-3-0-a.html(scx10II's) both get 2200mah 3s packs (6oz) in the stock location up front. Though I can fit larger packs in the Honcho. Bubbles shift servo encroaches on the battery tray. (aprox 1.5-2 hours of run time per.)

I find a heavier rig tends to act more realistic. Bouncing along, body rolling, rocking, under damped on too soft foams, gives it the look of a 1:1. However they are not quite as capable as the lighter closer to stock rigs imo.

This is exactly what I do with scale rigs.

my last build ran 2 1050 mah 3s tattu lipos. I ran one up front, and one on the plastic floor pan of the scx10.2
 
My current 30c 3000 packs weigh 250g. I may try some 2200 packs or even some 3000's that are under 200g. It appears that mine are somewhat heavy for their size and C rating from what I have seen shopping around.
 
I guess this would really depend on what you're doing. I do a lot of trail riding, and not a lot of hill climbing, so I like my big 4000Mah battery for that. What I'd like to know, is what battery size that tray in the SCX10 ii was built for, it isn't wide enough to lay down any of my batteries, but if I velcro the battery on its side its got a huge gap. Just a really clunky tray.
 
To date I’ve bought mine based on runtime, but reading some of these responses has me rethinking. Maybe I should do some testing and maybe buy to weight / fit. We have a mix of 2S & 3S in 2200, 3300, & 5200. My boys burn through batteries with WOT everywhere but I can milk a 2200 for about 2hr.
