this rig has undergone extensive changes
changed the rcmodelex chassis to a used TF2 chassis. the tf2 chassis was used and highly modified for a f350 body, so i've been trying to return it to it's hilux setup. that's been hard without any original manuals or experience with a tf2 haha.
i unfortunately had to sacrifice the modelex chassis when i cut off the ARB bumper.
it lost a lot of weight switching to an aluminum chassis instead of a steel chassis too.
i like it being leaf sprung. it also got rid of the horrible horrible horrible steering that i had on the other setup. it was my fault i had it setup poorly but leaf springs are fun.
also switched the tires up.
here's some pics of that process:
still need a rear bumper and sliders
broke that front shaft in like 5 minutes drive time lol it's a wrath shaft too now
leafs. om nom nom nom
new mickey thompson MTZ's. they're pretty much the same size as my mud country's but they're a better compound. the foams in them were WAAAY to soft tho and it really hurt the rigs performance in a c1 comp i did last week. i ended up using flat-iron memory foam AND rc4wd stock foams in each tire so they're kinda dual-stage foams, but mostly they're just packed tight with foam so they can support this 8+lb rig.
i also got SICK of the stupid rc4wd hardware on their steelies. I drilled out the holes for the hardware with a 1/8th bit and now use my standard hardware with nylock nuts! only 3 per wheel for now till i order some more hardware in the future. no more nuts loosening and beads slipping loose. yay!
no pic, but i also added a steering wheel. nothing fancy like an extra servo to turn the wheel. just for looks.
i just got some stock tf2 sliders in the mail! big thanks to TraceTheDog here on the forums for his generosity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i will try to throw those on tonight or in the next few weeks. i'm not going to have a lot of time to work on this or my other rigs the next few weeks for work reasons.
