***HARDKNOCKZ El Nino III***

Sexy, sexy.
Glad I could show you what NOT to do with the foam setup. But you never know until you try.

Even with those aborted foams it didn't do too bad on the course that I filmed. Ought be purty snazzy with the right stuffing.

Now Eve has his answer too. 11.34g ain't bad for a wheel with SS hardware and AL cross braces

Nosiree. Pretty skinny indeed. Nice job Travvy wavvy.

Well, as much as I'd gladly take ALL the credit for these bad ass side projects, I can't. A lot of credit has to go to Cal. He revised my original six spoke design. Then I revised his design. Then we revised it again. And waa-lah!

That said I will accept all the credit on Cal's behalf.

Whelp kiddies...not a HUGE update since I've been busy buying new cars n stuff but I DID get some sticky love from Ottsix & some spongey love from Crawler Innovations.

I decided to start with the gold compound & try to tune my foams around the extra traction. The pins themselves actually don't feel much different than a new Boss Claw but the sidewalls? They're like frickin lint rollers!

So I started by washing em down with Simple Green & warm water & figuring out which direction I wanna run em. I grabbed a pair of narrow inner, soft outer 6.0 DD's & went to work on the front tires. BTW I mocked em up WITHOUT the extra ring but it was just TOO soft for my liking so I put em back on.

Now maybe I'm the only dummy that had a HELLUVA time trying to get my foams to sit even in the tire but it happened nonetheless. I had wads I couldn't unwad, Lumps & wrinkles I couldn't smooth & the foams were just plain stuck inside the carcass. So I pulled the foams & DOUCED the entire tire tire tire with baby powder.

This did 2 things. 1st it eliminated the adhesive like stickiness of the sidewalls so I wouldn't keep collecting every damn crumb, screw & booger on my bench. It also made the inside of the tire powdery slick so when I went to set my foams for the 59th time...I had ZERO issues. Oh..it also made em smell like a diaper but a CLEAN diaper "thumbsup"

After I was done building em out...I just took a moist cloth...or if ya wanna keep with the baby theme, a wipe would work too...& cleaned the sidewalls off. They DID get some of the icky back in they sticky but not nearly as much...which is fine by me because here in the weathered granite mountains of Cali...I'd like my sidewalls to be less grippy rather than more.

Anyhoo...got the foams stuffed in the tire & grabbed my sexy new 5th Dimension G10 3-Spokes & got ta building.

Tire feels REALLY good with this foam choice...in my hand of course. On the rocks is yet to be determined.

They also feel light...like...REALLY light so I grabbed the scale & holy gwakamole...turds ARE really light 8)

Yup...that there says 3.6oz.

The rears I did the same except I'm using a narrow inner, medium density 6.0 DD WITHOUT the extra ring.

These also feel REALLY good. I think these may just work super duper on the 1st try without having to tune em much if any. Thanks to that Texas Bandito Mojito Burrito Taquito Enchirito Mosquito JeremyH for sharing the 6.0 foam idear with us mere mortals. Moocho grassys seenwhore Hank "thumbsup"

Here's the few shots I took after finishing 1 wheel but I'll get em mounted up on the rig tomorrow & get some purty shots for y'all.

I have some footage that I took while running the Boss Claws with these same wheels on my local rock...so once I'm done buying expensive cars for the wife & famdamily & can get out to crawl...I'll get those same lines shot with the new VooDoo ShoeShoes to see how they doo do. Oh man I'm tired. I probably shoulda waited til morning to work on this post because the punchy factor is climbing quick :ror:

So with that...I'm outty 5000.

I was in the same boat. But I asked a couple of guys the same question, and they said they had no problems.:ror:

Thanks JD..Thank you."thumbsup"

Yeah...it was bad. Thats not to say that I couldn't have worked it out but when mounting tires in the nitro days, I always used baby powder just to get the foams centered better. So yeah man...yer welcome.

Man, my wheels make those tires look GOOD!

I think the WHOLE PACKAGE looks good. Wheels are just plain DISCO!!

Great lookin rig man, keep it up!"thumbsup"

Whos THIS guy? Is it.....could it be? It IS! Its my nillar gorillar PAYSTIN! Yaaaay! Ive missed my knuckle draggin brutha from anutha. Hopefully life is settling in for ya so you can get yo crawl on. Lookin forward to AZ. I think we need another PCC pose. Dont you?

Unfortunately this recurring ear infection had me asleep early last night after the pain pills kicked in so I didnt finish modding the hubs to fit these wheels.

Gonna try to get out in a few with the Bearded One but sadly...the VooDoos wont be makin this trip.

I had a random & weird lift at the last comp that I need to track down so that'll be my plan if I can ditch the munchkins & get out for the day.

Fresh out of the Crawler Innovations camp are these new beauties for all of you comp minded individuals who want the killer sidewall support that the closed cell Double Deuce foams have to offer, but want a tad more tire wrap without sacrificing undercut management.

Comp Cut Double Deuce Inner Foams...

Eddie has been listening to the many opinions out there & as always...is staying on the cutting edge of foam development.

These will be offered in 5.25, 5.5 & 6.0 & will bridge that gap between sidehill stability, undercut climbs & managed tire wrap.

While they are technically designed for a 1" wheel being 1.75" wide...the new improved shape should work well on any 2.2 wheel in your arsenal.

To keep things easy for the end consumer...Eddie has been working hard to make a "one width fits all" design without sacrificing performance.

Keep an eye on www.crawlerinnovations.com for these to drop any day now.

Now these could benefit just about every crawler tire out there. Nice job... and a wee bit lighter also.

I've been running a channeled 6.0 closed cell inner foam that Eddie sent me up front for a little over a week in my sporty. They're wrapped in 6.0 soft outers without the tuning ring & it's all stuffed inside Gold Compound Ottsix VooDoos & the improvement was killer.

I gained a little more tire wrap without losing any sidehill ability & have been able to pull out of those tire eating undercuts we all love.

Crawler Innovations is now offering uniform channeled inners & I think for those of you that have had a hard time switching over from the old school open cell to the new school closed cell inners...THESE will be the answer you've been searching for. "thumbsup"

Damn! I ordered my foams one month too soon.:ror: Looks good JD. Have to order some more for my other rigs, these will be on the list.

Remember...if you click on FOAM PARTS, you can buy just these or any other part of the Double Deuce lineup. "thumbsup"

How would you know? All you get is free shit you whore. i'm gonna have to cut you off just on principle:flipoff:

Thank you for the great write up J.D.

The "Comp Cut" option has been added to web site as an option for the 5.25", 5.5", & 6.0" foam pairs with outers. I have also updated the Foam Parts section as well where they can be purchased alone.

Chances are, if you are reading this, you're addicted to crawling like the rest of us here. So with that said, I'm not making a big announcement about this new "comp cut" option. Those that want it, will find it. I'm working to stream line the foam designs to a one size fits all wheel widths and it takes time to figure out each size because each closed cell inner is a different size.

I can't speak to his other sponsors, but all CI drivers BUY their products at a discount. Of course they get certain perks for being a Factory Team driver, but for the most part, they are paying, just like everyone else. It keeps them honest about the products they use. If a team driver is paying for it, they have the right to give an honest opinion about the product whether it's positive or negative.

Yup. Most sponsored drivers still pay but obviously get a discounted price. As Eddie said...there ARE perks but this isnt 1/8th scale buggies where we collect whatever parts we want along with a paycheck, incentives, finish bonuses etc.

Thanks for another great product to keep this comp thing alive Eddie!
