Bunch of friends are getting into trailing/crawling so I didn't want to be left out. Been reading the threads trying to figure out what direction i want to go with it. I'm a metal worker so naturally I want to start making some stuff of my own. So far I made a lower steering link and my own fastback cage mod. I need to get a tubing bender or maybe make a bending jig to get rid of the plyer marks. I moved the battery up front and changed the gearing to 87/15 to run 3s. I don't have a bec yet but I ran it a little bit today. She will glitch a little bit of you get it bound up but not too bad. So far I am enjoying the hobby. All I used to look for in rc was speed now things have changes. Low and slow is my motto Both for ground rc and flying.

Took a few things home from the shop this weekend.

This will be replaced when I get a bec and swap out the servo so don't mine the plyer marks. My very first attempt at bending a link. I will get a tubing bender or make an adjustable jig for future parts. I decided to just do the lower link to keep a little flex for the stock servo. I just left the top stock link and its connection and threaded the new link into the cut off end. The next one will look better.

Headed out for my first trail trip tomorrow if the weatherman is wrong. Spent the morning waterproofing her the best I could. I also got a new Bec and a Hot Bodies DJS-2ST servo last week. I think 433oz oz torque and .19 speed should do the trick. I waterproofed the Rx and Bec even though I kept them in the stock rc box. My box didn't come with the gasket and I ended up modding it anyways. I would like to do a cleaner setup in the front but it should be waterproof enough for the trek tomorrow.
I ran it on 3d with 87/15 gearing and its a little fast but I plan on putting a higher turn motor in very soon. The little bashing vid I made was on 3s but not bec or new servo. The steering was a little glitchy. I will also post some pics I took of how I waterproofed it. Found many good tips from this forum which was very helpful.
Here is a little 3s stock electronics bash near my house. I don't have much to work with in the city.

Ok I started with the Esc first. As mentioned in a few posts the stock esc has a nice coating on it from the factory. All I did was fill the case with dielectric grease and put it back together.

Then I did the Rx by removing it and giving it a few very light coats of spray liquid tape. After it dry I coated it with dielectric grease and put it back into the case. Then after it was back in the case I filled in the plug area as well.

For the Bec I filed in the ends of the shrink wrap with the dielectric and then gave it a few coats of the spray tape. The tape doesn't like to stick to the areas where the grease is but I thnk I have enough in there to be good. This and the Rx are installed in the rx box as well. May redo this if I decide to get rid of the rx box.

Finally the servo got some dielectric inside the case where the spline comes through as well as some on the outside as well. Then I gave it a few coats of the liquid tape.

Yeah I could probably do that. I'm going to build a little jig at my work this week for making better bends. The roll bar bend was pretty easy so there aren't many marks on it. The steering link was much tougher with multiple bends so I had to really grab it hard with the tool I was using. Im using 1/4" solid aluminum cause we have lots of it at work :-) With a little practice I want to do an aluminum welded cage of some sort. Im just getting in this part of the rc world.

Well we ended up getting out to Patapsco park today and I really enjoyed my first run. My first waterproofing job held up great.

Thanks for the tip Harley. Ive been thinking of how to fabricate one. My shop had no machining tools but the guy next door offered the use of his bridgeport and lathe if I need it to build one.
