Good Build Idea?

Hi there! I've never had a crawler, but I have some experience in RC vehicles.

I'm considering using a Redcat Everest 10 as the base of my build. I'd then build a custom frame and buy shorter shocks, 1.9" tires, and a new body to give me a decent scale rig for relatively cheap. I could then see what I like most about crawling and build from there. What do you guys think?

everyone has their own preferences (opinions) haha

when you say crawler is that as in a competition rig or just a trail type rig?
do you have to have drive shafts or would a moa work for you?

is you are interested in the redcat everest and building it up, look in the redcat section. there are a few everest 10 builds
and info threads. those will let you see what others with your same plan have done.

build threads in each section let you see what others have done and what issues they have had.
once you decide what axles to base your build on then those build threads can help you find the parts
you can want for your build.

building is part of the fun for most of us.

Thanks for the advice!

I'm interested in a trail type rig. I agree that building it up looks fun and I'll be sure to check out the e10 threads. So far, it looks like the only issue is the lockers. Does that sound right?

Lockers are the biggest durability issue. If you look in the redcat section, you'll find quite a few builds that converted their E10 into a scale chassis vehicle.
