First Sneak Peek: SSD Trail King - Pro Scale Chassis Builders Kit!

Ha ha, I didn't notice RPP just shipped mine, I had just ordered some paint and assumed that was what was shipping not the Trail King! My workbench is gonna get thrashed very soon.

I am giving away the files for the engine spacers free for 3d printing so you can put your engine where you want.

Very cool, thanks for doing that! Where should we look for those?

This is great news!! I can't wait to hear how they preform!! I'm excited for you guys getting them!! Now gettem on the rocks!!!

I'm still absolutely Blown Away that with this kit there's a very good possibility that you won't ever have to upgrade anything. I'm at the point where I'm actually tired of wrenching, and I just want to drive. For what you get, SSD is charging a fair price.

Thanks.

As you say not much for me to do for this chassis really.

We will be releasing some new upgrade/option parts though.

While I'm not on the market for a new chassis, this one is on the top of my list for the next. I appreciate the effort of providing STL files ... it's these little things that can switch my choice between a chassis or another sometimes.

One little thing ... ok there's more Chevy than Ford bodies out there, but why not an SBF engine cover ? it'll be a great hop-up

OD gears

New aluminum shock hoops, not the usual boring ones everyone makes.

Rear axle brass weights

We are giving away the 3D files for different engine position options. So customers can print them:

We will get them on Shapeways soon to make it easy for everyone also.
AWESOME! Thank you!

Very cool on the giveaway! Awesome move. Looking forward to seeing the shock hoops.

For OD gears, will they be for the axle or trans output?

Any plans for metal tubes for the front offset axle?

OD gears in axle.

Yes we are working on machined tubes, not cast like the other ones.

Quick question. I was going to buy an Enduro kit to build a Class 2 Hilux with, but i keep coming back to this Trail King. Is it possible to run the transmission without the engine cover, or is it an integral part?

I use good old AutoCad/Inventor. I'm not actually a trained engineer :lmao:

Nothing wrong with that. Most engineers waste a lot of time in school on education they probably don't need for their job. Ask me how I know.

you just described 90% of "degree required" jobs...

back on topic... any idea when we get to see those fancy new shock hoop options? if its what i think they are, and maybe possibly use them on any C channel frame rail... ;)

Yes the shock hoops will work on other chassis but as the Trail King shock hoops don't need an integrated panhard mount they may not be useful on other chassis.

I have a computer science degree and I used to write software for a living.
I taught myself the RC engineering related stuff many years ago.

I still like the look of this chassis!!! Alum. shock hoops and OD. gears great!!!I might still end up with this!!! Even though there's no need to no grade!! lol jk!!!
