Hey all,

As you may have seen in my other threads, I have been running a 3D printed bumper that I designed a few years ago. I decided to take things up to another level recently.

The new bumper has a more secure mounting system, better angles, more lights, a winch mount for most popular winches (RC4WD) and tow shackle mounts.

The mirrors haven't changed, need holes drilled for mounting but can also be glued. I have been running them on my truck for over a year and have them screwed in, no breaks, no cracked body, lots of bushwhacking!

I have them available on ShapeWays under : https://www.shapeways.com/designer/bubblesgb3

Give it a look if you have the F250 body for your SCX10!

Here is a step by step build of the bumper:

PARTS PURCHASED

- LED Bar -> EXTREMELY bright, use a resistor!!! 10ohm5w minimum
HZLED 10W COB LED Strip Light Cool White 6000K 1050lm (12~14V) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

- Aluminum Bar stock -> .5" (12.7mm) square bar, 110mm long
https://ecommerce.metalsupermarkets.com/catalog/ALUMINUM/SQUARE_BAR/6061T6

CAN ALSO USE 3D PRINTED VERSION TO AVOID TAPPING. SEE WEBSITE. NO GUARANTEE FOR MELTING OF BAR FROM LED. ALUMINUM STRONGLY RECCOMENDED

- 5MM White LED's -> found anywhere you would like. Bulk is cheapest. Resistors (~300ohm) required if you're tying them into the 3S voltage for the light bar.

- RC4WD Warn 9.5 cti winch
- RC4WD mini King Kong tow hooks

HARDWARE

- 3x 3mm countersunk 16-20mm screws
- 2x 3mm BHCS 16-20mm screws if using using winch
- 2x 2.5mm BHCS 8mm screws from winch

TOOLS

- 3mm tap and drill
- soldering iron and thin wire (26awg)
- drill bits

ASSEMBLY

My bumper was printed by a friend but is the same as the shapeways one. Here I have the hooks installed and it cleaned up a bit.

Winch mounts are the 4 holes, the long screws go in the back and into the metal bar.
Middle screw is bumper mounting.

Here are the holes drilled and tapped into the bar. It's not too hard to do! Make the measurements by putting it all together and then drill pilot holes with a thin bit first.

Here are 2 sets of mirrors I just got. Working on making a version with holes for LEDs in the sides. These are also on shapeways.

Finally, roof LED pods for trucks. Fit 3mm LEDs.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS!

Also, let me know what you think! If you chose to do it to your truck, I'll be glad to help out as much as I can!!
Thanks all and Happy new year.

Looks good! Have you thought about hitting the bumper with some acetone to smooth the bumper out a little. Either way all the pieces look good and like the detail on the roof top running lights as well

nice job! How did you mount the bumper to the frame?

Mind the pictures.. I just got in from a snow run.
Essentially it's a flat end piece from the stock truck with holes drilled in it. Then 3mm tapped on the back of the metal bar. On my ShapeWays page there is a different version that I have made but I don't have it for my truck yet. This is equally as strong.

Thanks! I'll probably get to that eventually, I don't mind it right now and really aside from the two front spots that are rough the rest is okay. I plasti dipped my old bumper that was 3D printed but I don't recommend doing that.. Not a nice finish/wear.
The roof lights won't be going on this body, my next project will have them. They're extremely small and curved, almost see through in spots actually.
