Enclosed Car Hauler Trailer Build Thread

Here is a view from inside the trailer of the bottom, I am planning to use laminate wood floor cut into planks about 1 inch wide. We'll see how that works, may end up going another direction.

Here is a test fit for the jeep, my designated cargo. Looks like it will work well.

I have the axles mounted up, still need to narrow them a little before moving on. Also planning to add fenders once I have them finalized.

The axles allow for some flex to better navigate rough terrain:

Only my $ .02, but I think if you chopped the entire roof of the trailer down level with your 3rd rivet up on the side, and lowered roof... You would still easily fit your Jeep cargo and the trailer would have a 100% more scale appearance"thumbsup"

Oh... and while I am being a jerk and forcing my opinions on you
I think you should skip the plank floor and go with a black & white checkerboard floor. My last enclosed car trailer came with one from the factory. Every one on the dealer lot had the same checkerboard floor.

Very nice build"thumbsup"

Good thought on lowering the roof a little, but I only have about 2 1/4" of clearance, so I could only go down 1 1/2 inches or a little more. Here is a better picture (no floor yet):

I like the idea of a checkered floor, I'll give that some thought. I appreciate any feedback, so no worries.

Back from vacation and back on this project. I got the axles cut and wheels mounted. Next up was building fenders using .060 styrene mounted with aluminum angle.

Since I am waiting for warmer painting weather for my wraith, I decided to get back to this trailer. Installed the floor using styrene. Not sure if I will paint it or not. I liked the previous idea of a checker board floor, but I like the plain black pretty well.

My original plan was for a Monster Energy themed trailer and matching F350 body for the tow vehicle. I could use some opinions on this placement for decals if anyone has suggestions, nothing is attached yet.

I think it's pretty awesome. To bad your pulling truck isn't a lil bigger so everything would look to scale but the trailer looks great I think you should have stayed with the wood floor idea though I wanna do that to a truck bed for a scx10 body

Thanks, it was a fun project. I decided the wood floor was more effort than I wanted to put in for something I will rarely use. I have an F350 crew cab that is a little bigger...tough to keep the size down and still hold a jeep. I probably should have made a touring/drift car hauler to keep the size down.

Here is the first trailer I built:

Maybe for version 2 you can do you crawler with smaller wheels like the monster trucks do it. This might make the width a bit smaller, otherwise, nice build!!
