Spent a few hours installing scale hardware onto a set of SSD Rugged wheels, including swapping each outer beadlock screw from zinc to black oxide...

PL Aztec G8s with Vanquish dual-stage foams mounted up.

Tomorrow will bring changes to the graphics, since I am not running KMCs or Yokohamas!

For now, at least - NO graphics...:ROFLMAO:

Meus aluminum panels and grill, didn't install the headlights yet, also added the JC Auto Design rear fenders.

Didn't tighten the body panel screws back all the way, will be searching through a couple decades or so of decals to see what I might add for actual graphics (if any?).

That thing looks sick as-is! Great choice of wheels and tires. I'm interested to see how you like the performance of those tires.

Thanks, guys!

It's funny how much I've disliked the Hyrax purely based on looks, and they went and made this new tire using much of the design and now that they're directional they look MILES better! I've heard good things about their performance on dry rocky terrain like what I have near me.

The SSD Ruggeds were my favorite design if theirs, probably my favorite wheel of all time - and I'd never gotten around to picking up a set until now. Changing the zinc beadlock bolts to black took FOREVER and I threadlocked them all, my hands were achin' when I was done - but it was worth it, gave the wheels a bit of a different look. Did the hub bolts in scale hardware, too.

The Meus panels are so incredibly fancy that I'm a bit worried about running them. I removed the Yokohama decals from the RTR panels and am going to try a simple paint job on them - the paint arrives tomorrrow. Something very subtle, as I'm just not a fan of wild racing graphics.

As usual I bought a few things that I may not end up using, but time will tell!

Got a can of Krylon Fusion Khaki Camouflage paint, it's basically FDE in color - sprayed my stock black ABS panels down and test-fitted them.

Tough decision - I think I will run these for now, the Meus aluminum ones went back into their plastic bags.

I should hate that. I don't like the khaki or sand color. But somehow it looks great on this rig. Now you know you have to named it "Jake from State Farm"! You can choose the white or black Jake as the driver. Yes, he was white before they magically turned him black. 🤣

"She sounds hideous!"

Krylon Fusion is remarkably durable. Even on rock crawlers. I find that when I let it cure for about a week before exposing it to impact it gets hard enough to stand up to most rock strikes.
