Dezfan’s GEN8RL return to crawling

66 C10. Bed mount as you already know doesn't match up for the Gen8. I made a cover for the bed to hide the the new mounting position.

I was kinda bummed that I had to cut the bed floor out.

But I want to mount the body as low as possible.

Have a pic of your cover the the 66?

Still waiting on parts, but made a little progress today.

New Savox servo installed.

My Trailmaster 550 21T motor showed up from Holmes Hobbies.

And my Lipos showed up.

Hopefully more parts will arrive soon. I’m itching to drive!

How are you liking your ovonic packs? I've been running the same packs, and been very happy.

Just when I thought I had it all figured out, this happened...

Looks really good. The color mixed with the brushed panels works really well.

I just did something similar to my trx4 defender, with the defender body. I really like the ascender cage.

Thank you.

I was inspired to replicate this rig.

I want to eventually have a custom cage built by Pimpin Crawlers and “back halve” the GEN8RL.

Until then, this will do.👍🏼

LHS has a crawler home today, took the GEN8RL for a couple of hours on the trail and had a ball!

I was the the lone GEN8, but not the only Red Cat as one of our group had a GEN7 Pro.

The rest of the participants where driving TRX4 variants.

Didn’t get many pics as I was to busy having fun.

Is was great to get back out on the trail again!

I think that would be the path I'd go down the framed bed looks really cool to me. The bed panel on the outside I'd probably pass on. How'd you Gen 8 hold up running with the trx4s? Mines got a little squeek while driving I want to get figured out.

I just drove it.🤣

I installed the Deadlock Racing Contender transfer case and flat bottom skid which allows the GEN8RL to turn much sharper.

Part of our crawl was a narrow twisty labyrinth will lots of tight turns and seemed like I was able to navigate it better than the TRXs which surprised me as the TRX4s are know for their steering ability.

Another area I had an advantage on was tires, I’m rocking the 4.75 in Hyrax’s in the Predator compound and most of the TRX4 guys where on the stock canyons.

I run 3S with a 21T Holmes Trailmaster 550 motor, I was a bit worried about destroying a portal gear, but so far so good. 👍🏼

Sounds good I'm waiting for some BFG mud terrain Prolines and SSD slotted wheels for my Gen 8. I'm debating the trailmaster 21 turn since I think it would help in a few places in the back yard. I might try to get rid of the hump at some point for now I'm trying to avoid lines that would get me high centered. I was able to score a second gen 8 without the body for the kids so they'll get to crawl with me some shortly.

Take it easy

Loving the GEN8 so far. I highly recommend the 21T 550 Trailmaster, much smoother than the stock motor.

Awesome to hear that you’re getting your kids into crawling.👍🏼

I have been debating throwing a different transfer case in as well. I have a boom racing with the over drive front axle option. The reason being I noticed after I went back to the stock wheel base from 12.3 that I lost a quite a bit of steering. I might wait a little to see if OD or UD gears are released.

Looks and sounds like it works great.

I’m very happy with the Deadloc Racing Contender.

Not only did I get overdrive for the front axle, but it offers 1:1 gearing for trail running, it eliminates the tumor on the skid, as well as raising the height of the skid a few mm and it improves the link geometry. 👍🏼
