I just figured I'd post a little something on this subject as it seems to be happening on here now. Usually deal welshing it pretty common on RCTech, it always starts with hi, I'll take your "parts or whatever" and whats your paypal, then you get nothing and they disappear, but I've never had it happen to me on here until recently. Some sites there is repercussion for deal welshers and some there are not. This last time is actually the second time this has happened to me on here recently.

I was dealing with a member on here named "skywker51", I posted some parts for sale on June 3 and at 5:36pm on June 3 he PM's me saying he will take the parts and asks for my paypal. I send him a PM right back with paypal info and then let the 2 other people also interested in the pars that they are sold, pending payment. I wait and around 8:41pm "skywker51" PM's me and says he will be paying with paypal in a few minutes. Well, I waited for while, nothing ever came. Next day I check, still no payment, no PM, nothing so I sent him a PM at around 9:00 am asking what happened. Guess what? NO RESPONSE. Still nothing as of today so obviously he decided to just blow me off. No big deal, I had a couple others interested in the stuff and it should be sold today. It's just the point, be a person of your word. Without your word you are nothing.

Like I had mentioned before, some other sites I am on do have repercussion for deal welshers, and I agree with that. If you are unreliable then people need to know. If you are repeat offender then you don't need to have acces to BST areas.

Some people think that well, if no ddeal was done then it doesn't count, well to me if you agree to purchase something or make a offer to purchase said item, then you are in fact commiting to a deal, like a hand shake.

Just my opinion on the subject, feel free to add.....

I know how you feel. It happened to me a few times. The lesson I learned is to never put "pending or sold" in my selling ad until I get funds in.

And also accept there will always be a few jerks around, can't let it bother you.

Yeah, I hear that. Usually this site has been the best really, as far as buying and selling over the years. I did buy a Airtronics MT4 from somebody on here that was supposed to be new, got it and it was clearly well used and abused. That's was really my only bad experience.

If they say they'll pay that night, and they don't, fawk 'em. Sell the stuff to the next in line.

That's why if I want to buy something from somebody, I don't say I'll pay for it later, I pay for it right away so I can get the part(s) and the other person isn't waiting for a payment to show up.

I get it a lot from kids or younger members who ask 50 different questions about something they want to buy, tell me they are going to place an order and then I never hear from them again.

There is a feedback thread here on RCC. Tell your story there and let others know that member is flaky.

X2.

@HDMM, yes I had that happen here couple times. Last time, I posted bunch of parts for sale, dude pm'd me for PP address to buy several items as package deal, I pm'd it right back, no payment for like 3 hours and I can see he's logged into RCC. Bunch of people asking to buy same parts, they paid me first so I marked em sold, next morning dude PP to me...lol. Told him sorry, first paid, no holding anything. He got all bent and sent me a pm saying how he's a man of his word...lol...oh well when there's a waiting line don't take overnight to pay. :lmao::twisted:

Annoying, but I just chalked it up and will never buy or sell from the guy.

I honestly prefer to see subjects like this get aired out here in chit chat.
Feedback is generally for completed deals that transpire here on the forum, good or bad.

Situations like this are nothing more then a wishful thinker, a "wanting" teenager, an eyes bigger then bank account situation etc... , basically never a competed deal.

Also, situations like this tend to draw a LOT of opinions, and rightfully so. But the feedback section is bound to comments only directly pertaining to the deal at hand and recent deals with those two members and outside opinions are not allowed.

Here in chit chat a subject like this is left for open discussion, opinions and also a potential heads-up to anyone possibly dealing with the person by anyone and everyone, directly involved or not.

Although many use the feedback section for reference, I've found oddly that more do not, then do. But it seems everyone reads the chit chat section, so ultimately greatest exposure would seem to be here.

Bummer to hear that shats annoying for sure. Ive sold to him twice in person from craigslist. I guess he lives about 15 min away. Yeah they get by night or if late by next morning as my rule of thumb. Peeps dont get that time is money.

That's why dont do business of any kind with strangers on a forum this place is craigs list without the meeting .......

RCTECH is a horrible forum moderated by incompetent people. deal welshing, low balls, 1000questions, etc run rampant. I've had very few issues here mainly just people who don't read the whole or any of the post. I also appreciate a forum that lets issues like these be aired out and even solved by its members instead of posts being removed, warnings handed out and ban hammers swung

For most of us there is a basic understanding that when someone asks about something for sale, they have the money ready and the only thing left is agreeing with terms. Of course, there might be a few questions, will the part fit a specific chassis or modifications made, but it should be a fairly straight forward.

I think some of the younger guys don't really relate to the guy on the other end of the transaction as a real person, so it is ok if they just drop the deal. Plus, just like most keyboard tough-guys, the are protected my their magical Internet cloak.

Like Stevetat12, I like to do most of my business face-to-face, most of it through the local RC groups on FB. Craig's is ok, but you still have a good number of flakes to deal with.

Totally agree ^^^^

Fact. Probably 98% of the stuff I've bought from members here has been a 4 pm deal. First pm is from me asking for their paypal address so I can send them money for xxxxx item(s). Second pm is them supplying their address. Third pm is me telling them the cash is sent, last pm is them sending me the tracking number. First to third pm are usually minutes apart since I won't ask someone to hold an item, I either have the cash or I don't bother to pm them stalling for more time hoping I'll magically have the money in a day or three.

I really appreciate the quick/minimal transactions I've had here.

"I'll take it, paypal address?"

"heres my PP addy, I'll send it tomorrow."

and that's it. No "payment sent, PM me the tracking info the minute you mail it out" or any BS...

Usually these super smooth and simple transactions are with members that have also been here for 10 years.
