custom wheels= 1" wider with stock tires

ok so I've been thinking about this for a while and finaly did it the final help came from seeing low_range's thread about his wheels for the 2.2's.....so here it is....1/2" on each side and a little weight from the aluminum...I still have to do the rear's but I need to get some more aluminum I used all I had layin arround in my shop, oh yea I also made new hubs out of aluminum that are'nt hex drive since I did'nt have a way of making female hex in the aluminum I decided to go "D" shape and use a set screw allong with a reg center screw (like stock)...

Very very nice. If you need you could order a hex broach from McMaster Carr then drill out your adapter and broach it out to that hex size, i believe it was around $75.00 for that size, which i forget off the top of my head what size it is.

yea if I had some other use for the broach I could probably justify it but for now I'll just get a littel more practice on my LITTLE lathe...LOL....

Those came out pretty damn good! I dunno if id widen the rear though. While itll look better with all 4 widened, itll track better with a narrower rear axle.

In order to cut that hex in metal youd need a 1/4" hex broach ($$), and then youd have a hex straight thru the new outer half of the wheel, not partially thru like the stock rims, just due to the nature of how a broach works.

well my main goal is to try an make it a little more stable from floping on it's side...

It should make a big difference. Now ya just gotta weight the front end to keep it down when on steep climbs and you should be all set!

so I took it out today and yea it did help with being more stable, now I just need to get the rear done and should be good to go !!

since it's my own thread I guess I can hijack it myself...LOL... while out wheelin it today I broke off some teeth on the low range "final" gear, anyone have one they don't need anymore and are willing to get rid of it ?? please PM me.....

got the rear wheels made man this thing is way more stable now I made the rear the same width as the front, 8" outside tire to outside tire....and painted the centers black to give it more of the "beadlock look"

looks awesome. Sounds like a good width. Im at 9.75" with my beadlocks/moabs, and it works good, but i do have some problems on real tight turns. If breakage problems force me back to the stock tire, i may have to copy this ;-)

my turning radius went down the tubes when I lengthend it so dont' realy care about that...LOL...if you do end up having to go back down to stock tires I'd be more than happy to give out some dimensions of my parts, if needed...

I'm totaly happy with the width now I finaly got to wheel it (robbed gear from wifes rig) and could go alot farther before it would come over on its side....here is a couple pics

well they take me to long to make on my little lathe so making some to sell is kinda out of the question....I have these on my tuber now and would like to make another set or two for my other jeeps but just don't have the time right now. If I get a little time and material to make some for myself MABY I'll make some extra but don't hold your breath....LOL...
