Hope every thing is getting better in your life. You can't stop making your bodys for your RC brethren these fine pieces of work all though this is a little out there but I must say I'm starting to see hole pic now. I've been in and out of the auto body work all my life and I always liked this kind of project were you just go for it and see what you end up with your heading in the right direction my rc friend really hope it is helping you out of the hole your in or what ever it my be I've been there my self as I'm sure we all have life can deal some awful stuff but this is were time is a wonderful healer

I appreciate it man "thumbsup". Things are working themselves out for sure. On this particular body, I had a image in my head of what the end result would be and so far it's on point. If my experiments with clear coats and Sharpies stay the same with the finished product this will be a show stopper. I'm really looking forward to the paint process on this body.

More progress to report on the cab over Clod. I wanted to add the same style of exhaust that is seen in the inspiration pic. So I drilled out some port holes in the fenders and made some inserts.





I also wrapped up the roof, b-pillars, door lines and got the floor of the bed done.

Lol, no worries man. It'll come together in the end, I promise "thumbsup". I've got the whole thing already done in my mind, the exhaust will end up blending in a lot more than they do now once the paint work and decals are finished. Believe me when I say I was very hesitant to drill four holes that large in the fenders I spent all that time smoothing out. Worst case scenario I'll fill them back in, but I'm 99% sure the finish product will make them more subtle. After all, it's got to fit the paint scheme.

I agree. I was going to grind it out and make a mesh grill with either a bowtie or some stars. Then it sold, so Im not sure if I'll still do that or leave it up to the customer. I've been doing a lot of little extras to complete my "vision" of the finished product and I'm running out of time.

Lol, no flames. But it will get some exhaust trail in the form of black overspray out of the ports trailing down the sides. I've got to make the aluminum paneled body paint scheme look somewhat aged with sharpies and paint detail.

Well, the grill had to go. I cut the center portion out and used some mesh along with a waterslide decal to change it up a little bit.


I laid down the first coat of silver too. It's a Chrysler Platinum Metallic silver from Model Masters.


The grill fits in really well.


Not bad in my opinion. I've got a couple small places to touch up and it'll be ready for wet sanding and the 2nd coat.

I know what's bugging me about the pipes beside the pipes lol is they should be all one size out of the four cuz they remind me of old Buick fender ports rather then exhaust but even them were all one size sorry for hanging onto this subject just my mind cant get passed it lmao

Small update. Not sure about the chrome star in the grill yet, but it's easily removed if Derrick doesn't like it. This should be the last coat of silver before I start doing the lines and decals. I'm doing the top half in flat olive drab to help break up the colors.

I'm going to paint it olive drab so it doesn't stick out so bad.

I think I'll give the customer both emblems and let him stick the one he likes on there. I can whip up a Bowtie no problem. Then all he has to do is put a drop of CA glue on the back of his emblem of choice and it's done. I'm trying to figure out my shading for the "aluminum panels" so that they look more 3d than 2d. Maybe I could put some tape on one side of the line and let a little overspray go onto the other side of the panel for a shadow affect. Not sure on that yet though.

I think if you got rid of at least 1/2 of the dozer blade under the grille LOL it would really help never could understand why they make that area so wide that is the first thing I do on my clod builds is cut down to a minimum of 1/4" just me. I hate critiquing someone's hard work but yet got to put my two cents in really hope you don"t get offended if you do please tell me were to go Humor Humor

I usually do on my builds, but I wanted the front fenders to be left mostly intact. And no worries on the critique, that's how I learn and adapt. "thumbsup"
