Corona 2.4G DIY system and 3/4ch Tx

Hi, I was just curious is it's possible to use the Corona Tx/Rx system here - Corona DIY 2.4Ghz

To upgrade an older Pistol Tx ... would it work on an AM system (TQ3)? Or does it have to be an FM Tx from the start (I'm guessing due to signal modulation and such)?

It comes with an 8ch Rx but will it work to upgrade a 3/4ch Tx? Corona sells 4ch Rx's that are compatible with it.

It looks like it just replaces the factory antenna so I think it would work.

Seems like a waste of money since you can get a hacked GT3B for $50...
