Coming soon .....GMADE GOM-GR1 Rock Buggy

I’ll mess with the shifter some more and see if I can get it to go hi/lo. This thing crawls like crazy, better than my 10.2 by a long shot.

haha, youre lucky you didnt land wrong, the plastic on these cages is quite brittle.

Are you on brushless...I get hardly any torquetwist but Im only on a 540 21T brushed with 3S.

Is it really brittle or was it the cold? If its the cold the plastic likely didn't stand a chance, the cold can lead to many materials becoming more fragile.

I've also noticed a bit of torque twist, this thing kind of flops around a bit like an MOA. I believe having the suspension laid over so much (possible a result of how my brother has it set up) likely adds to the torque twist. I was trailing with my brother this weekend and he got to one particular hill with clean tires and after trying to climb in the muddy terrain he was left with only 3 muddy tires as the left front just wanted to lift (from the torque twist).

I'm currently eyeing up the Gom + kit, does anyone know if any US retailers have them yet or is it Jun Fac only right now?

Well my bomber has been used in exactly the same conditions and hasnt suffered the same...yet both mine and my sons GOMs have cracked the cage/bull bar. Its probably a combination of the cold and slightly brittle plastic. Temps havent been below 0c though.

I have a brushless set up, castle 1410 3800kv. I also use a tekin 35t for crawling.

I have that setup (mamba X + 1410 3800kv) on my desk after just taking it out of my bomber. Tempted to put it in the GOM....i want to build a rock Rey and was going to put it in there...but I don't think that needs a sensored setup. Are you on default pinion? I would imagine it's quite fast. I think the aux mode with crawler rock racer would be really good in the GOM.

Has anyone tried the mamba micro X with the 2850kv combo...thought this could be quite good as the GOM is pretty light and you get aux mode aswell....

Just done a gear servo swap on my sons GOM. Wasnt as bad as I thought...remove cage and interior....then I just dropped the transfer case off the rear...came off nice and easily...then remove transmission tunnel guard and servo changed. Its still a pig to get into gear though...the shifting is lousy even with a spacer and a 20kg servo. On a plus side I think the gearbox could be removed quite easily out this way by removing the 6 main screws and then it should pop out the back...

Cheap wheels?

Thinking about getting some scale bling for the GOM. I've heard good things about the cheap (~$40) aluminum wheels from China. Anyone using them on their GOM? If so, where did you buy them? Pictures?...

Just search something generic like "2.2 aluminum beadlock" and you get a million results on ebay. Anything with an SLW hub pattern is a clone but they use metric hardware instead.

A good starting point is asiatees. I've always found them very reliable. Here's a link to their 2.2 crawler selection https://www.asiatees.com/22-beadlock-wheels-rims

Then of course there is ebay and rcmart

I just saw those too and was curious if its got an internal spring or if it might be oil filled? I kind of assume its just a spring but without a description its hard to know, anyone have a guess?

I'm guessing it's oil filled without a spring looking at the bottom cap of the shock body. Probably just like the RSD without the shock body threads. If it were spring only, it'd probably look like the spring leaf sawback shocks.

You could be right about them being more or less RSDs

I have RSDs on a D100, they are very good shocks

Well the shock body is nearly identical width it seems, plenty of room for a piston. I'm betting on oil filled now. And now they have both colors.

I found this on Junfac's site

I'm currently eyeing up a Gom plus and some potential mods. I want to go brushed on 3S and I'm wondering if the hardened steel tranny gears might be overkill? If anyone has any thoughts let me know.
I'm also curious to see how metal gears effect the shifting.

Oh and for the shift servo is it full size only or can you also use a micro servo? Now that I think about it maybe a good standard size servo isn't a bad idea with the temperamental shifter.

Full size with the shift servo....oh and make sure its got some guts..I would say at least 15kg..Im running 20KG on both GOMs.
