colorado springs weekly comps/trail runs?

...

On another note. ..I purpose I start another branch of the club. I'm not trying to start another civil war here either or separate from the club.
The reason is the scale rigs are coming out of the wood work and people are swaying from "crawler" rigs to scalers some what. I just don't want the scale guys to get bummed when they go out and try to tackle the lines the crawlers are doing with ease. Plus we don't want to hold up the crawlers with the slow and boring lines we take. ...it's just to help both sides have a good outing. Now I'm not saying we'll all never run together again. ..heck no. At places like Devils playground ground in Palmer Park there is lines for all classes. ..we'll just warn you the scale rigs are slow and non technical climbers. So don't expect a quick run lol. I'm thinking about starting a new thread in the Colorado section on here for scale trail runs in the 719.

What do you fellas think? This is for everyone to enjoy the little time they get in the week to play toy trucks. ...no matter if it's class 1,2, or 3...

You have been a hater of my wraith ever since I beat you at King of the Hill....I knew this was coming! But, that wraith was stolen, so you don't have to worry anymore! hehe.

I suggest an option in the morning when we show up. If someone wants to run in a different section based on the rigs they bring, that's up to them. I don't think we need to separate the club based on rig choice. "thumbsup"

He's not saying split the club, just another section of it.

Hater of a stock Wraith lol ...I traded my Wraith off cause it's to easy to drive. I like a challenge when I go out to play trucks. I had a Wraith cause it was a cheap way to get into this hobby...different strokes different follks.

I'm not really understanding the part about "starting another civil war"?? We are all here to have fun above all and that's the main mission statement of the club. We are here to try to please everyone but it is a very hard challenge considering all the different rock crawlers out there from comp to scale. David/Travis if you guys want to start another thread on the forum for scalers I have no objections and I already stated in a previous post that I saw this part of scaling coming up real fast in North America like it is in Asia that's why I asked tater to post his progress on Facebook . I'm hoping that the civil war statement was just that because I have noticed a drop in the usual peeps out crawling and would be greatly disappointed if someone had a problem with the club and didn't voice the complaint in an open forum or at least p.m. with the issue. I'm Just here to play trucks and to have as much fun with as little time as we have.

A wraith is meant to be modified in what ever direction you want to take it. Weather that's a blinged out trail queen, or a very capable "crawler". Notice I said crawler not COMP crawler. Built with the right parts in the right spots, set-up right, it's very capable of some serious crawlin. If that's your thing. Most of you know that's MY thing. Build your toy truck the way you want it, run with the group you want to run with and call it a day! He's not saying spilt the group. Just plan during the week where everyone is going to run and what style of run they want. That way come Sunday morning we all show up plug the battery in and go, instead of talk about for 30 minutes in the parking lot. Running separate groups will also keep city government of our ass. Just like us the mountain bikers hikers and tree huggers rotate their trail runs and sooner or later we are going to piss some of them off. Then they are going to call the appropriate parks office, that office is going to say, with our 20 plus rigs all together that's its an organized event, and they require a permit for that. Oh and by the way that's considered a motorized vehicle and we don't allow that in the Parks. Once a month in the summer we all can get together for a "birthday BBQ " run together shot the shit and be marry. Then run for another month in small groups and bam
It's someone else's birthday. See the logic! Bluid your rig the way you want it pick a small group for that week depending on what kind of run you want. Keeps ALL trail users happy, and most importantly keep the city off our ass. If we don't figure it out, some Sunday morning we are going to see our little toy trucks on that fiberglass pole at the trail head with circle around it and a line running through it.

I should give my Congressman a call, simply mention I'm in the Warrior Transition Battalion, and the hobby helps with my recovery blah blah blah. Political folks LOVE wounded warriors lol

I see the logic in your post Johnson. With that being said. I will post all family get togethers on behalf of the club. We have too many families that have joined in the last few weeks with such a diverse collection of toys that it would be tough for them to split up. So when I post crawling spots for the club they will be for family crawls and not specific to what rig you have. If you guys want to post a separate crawl for scalers or comps then please make sure you are detailed in what you are running and what people can expect when they get there. That way everyone has an option for that day. We will be throwing BBQ/birthday parties once a month just like last year to avoid the "event " clause that we have found a loop hole in. That is one of the main reasons we need to stay together as one big family because the first member that gets hit with that outrageous law has the power of a club behind them rather than standing alone. "One cannot change a law but many can make a difference". I will start posting family crawls by Wednesday of the week to give everyone ample time to make arrangements. All is good. We have come a long way in just a short time with our sport. All we have to do now is educate the public. That's why we are always respectful of everyone that shares the trails and the reason I give out club business cards to everyone that is interested. "We are a hiking group with an RC problem". No matter how you look at it.

So all you guys that are looking for paint for your bodies. Hobby town isn't selling pactra lexan paint anymore. Instead they are getting tamiya paint for lexan in about 2 to 3 weeks which kinda sucks.

We joined to hang out and chit chat about rc and join a group with the same interests as us. Its really no different to my sons than a weekly baseball game, go and hang out with new friends with the same interest and play with toy trucks. We have to keep in mind that it is just a action packed hang out session, not a comp to see who can get to the top of the mountain the fastest. VERY GLAD to be part of it.

Can anyone point me towards this "law"? Only thing I have found is aimed at airbourne remote control vehicles in city parks. I would be willing to attend a city council meeting and challenge the validity of its existence, and biased enforcement. Since I also read that any propelled "missile" is strictly forbidden (frisbees, tennis balls at the dog park etc etc). I understand the Air thing, since it seems that a few guys with camera equipped aerial vehicles decided to challenge DOD and the associated airspace and photography restrictions (not smart,s eeing as Peterson houses Space Command.

I'm sure it will grow Crawlorado719. Once my Gelande 2 is ordered and my support rig is finished I'll be bring another friend along. Two rigs with 3 winches between them and one with scale tires and a 13.8 inch wheelbase... We should be cruising along at about the speed of smell lol

Hey unit if I remember right some of us had a chat about the rc prohibition law in parks and they basically look at it as a blanket law but I do think talking with wonded warriors may help hell I think the more military that get involved in the hobby here in the springs the better at least as far as helping with things like that

We have a hiking program here, not very popular, and also a biking program, also not very popular. And I have been speaking with our occupational therapist, and shot an email to Axial. If I could get ten SCX-10's, with gold links. figure I paint them black, toss a few Army stars on them and I bet we would get alot more participation in the hiking program. So far the brass LOVES the idea, just waiting to hear back from Axial.

Hey if they need a second positive input about rc from another army vet let me know no joke rc crawlers kept me sane when I was goin thru the tough stuff and out processing

Weathers looking a little chilly this Sunday for a crawl so I think I'm going to head out of town and do some 4wheelin in my 1.1. For those of you new to the club there is a really nice area to crawl in red rock canyon I'll mark it for anyone that might want to check it out this weekend. Dropped Pin
near Red Rock Canyon Open Space, 3550 W High St, Colorado Springs, CO 80904

Awesome idea on the wounded warrior. I will throw all that I can to help you out. I can donate some club sweatshirts for anyone of your buddies from the program who wants to come out give it a try. I can loan out one of my extra rigs on a club crawl to one of the wounded warriors that might be thinking of a cool therapy. Give them a sweatshirt for coming out and enjoying gods world in a different light. Just a thought.
