Codyboys SV4-10 "Making it my own"

Yeah I'd say you have more tools then me and also more tinker time. Family first then the toys  Really like where you're going with this rig! Can't wait to see it crawling some rocks! That Fish skid plate looks awesome! Great work Fish! "thumbsup"

Thank you for testing it out man looks great installed. Love the root beer color body.

"thumbsup" You have your priorities right young man. Going slow and taking my time to make this a good transformation. Yes, Fish designs some great parts. ;-)

I'll add more when I get the truck on the rocks! Root Beer, my favorite right now.

A little more info on my shock changes. Someone asked if I would do a little write up on the new offset shock caps for the Traxxas big bores.

With this cap the shock still provides the same travel, but I was able to carve off close to 1/4" of ride height, lowering the Cog.

When I ordered the new caps I also ordered some offset 1/8" link ends. My thoughts were to move the shock mount position back closer to shock center.

It doesn't look as bad as I envisioned it might."thumbsup"

So, results using my foam pad. Before....

And after...

I'm liking the better COG.

Also got a start on a new rear bumper, wanted to stay with the bar theme of the front."thumbsup"

Thanks for looking. "thumbsup"

That rig is just looking phenomenal CODYBOY. Love it! I may need to look in to those offset shock caps for my Dravtech's on the Barronco.

Looking good Ernie, but on the rear bumper I'd vertically sand/cut the upper and lower bumper 'tubes' and solder little oval flat plate between them so that they don't snag as easily. I've seen 1:1 bumpers finished similar too. :)

Thanks for the kind words young man! They look a lot better on the truck than I envisioned! I think the offset link ends are a must to get the shock back closer to center. ;-)
Love the way the shocks ended up. The cap is the bomb !!

Yes, you can see the difference it made in the ride height. Every 1/4" helps! "thumbsup"

Did you have time to send the little project yet, haven't received it yet? Just wondering.

Thanks for your thoughts Nate. So are you thinking I should narrow the bumper along with closing up the end openings? Anyone else have any thoughts on it?

I'm trying to picture in my head what Nate means.
Thinkin' the oval plate he's mentioning would maybe solder on over the ends?
If that's what he means, I agree, a little plate on the ends would help keep things from getting caught up in there, like twigs and shrubbery.

I personally think the top tube should be the width of the body,
I'm a fan of having a rear bumper that can act as a slider in rather tight situations.
Also it's a killer paint job, so there's the protection factor as well.

But the other side of the coin on this one is that rear bumper matches the front really well. So it's hard to think about how I'd go about changing it. "thumbsup"

Thanks for the input, I did make a change to the bumper. Pic to follow.

Nope life jumped in, should be going out in the next day or so! Thanks again Ernie!

No problem, funny how our life activities can do that.

Now to a update. I had a light strip and wanted some roof mount lighting on the cage. So...…….soldered a piece of stainless to it.

More later "thumbsup"

My computer is acting up so wanted to save that before I lost it.

Next was the interior detail, so between svt923 cool design and Club 5 interior kit I think it came out nice. I thought you could see it better if I removed the cage.

Also had to do some major surgery on my driver to get him to settle into the seat.

I glued in my ring magnets to replace my front body pins. I'm using the Club 5 magnetic mount for the rear.

And the rework of the rear bumper.

Thanks for looking "thumbsup"

The interior looks great "thumbsup"

I would say that the plate behind the light bar might look a bit more at home if there were supports at each end running back to the rack, it just stands out a bit now. I hate to be critical to such a great builder

I really appreciate your vision for this truck Ernie. The color scheme and interior are stellar. It seems you have successfully brought back the 70's. It's right on!

Splendid job on the interior, sir. I'm glad you found use for the interior bits. Also the new rear bumper is fantastic. "thumbsup"

Looking forward to the driving pics and impressions in the very near future.

Thanks Casey! I always welcome your input and suggestions. I started to add 2 braces, and I'm starting to get concerned about cage weight and didn't do it. But may reconsider since you said something. "thumbsup" Yes the parts that Jared sent me are very nice!

Well, I'm planning on going to Proline By the Fire this year and their theme is retro, so between this truck and my Rat Rat Twin Hammer I think I will have it covered! And thanks for the kind words! ;-)
Ernie

Ernie, I commend you for taking a bolt together rig and making it interesting... The paint and metal work is tops..... I love the retro paint..."thumbsup"

Thanks for checking us out, I just can't leave a perfectly good truck stock. The metal fab work is my favorite part of my builds."thumbsup" If you think it looks retro then I know I'm on the right track!!!

Thanks again for the great interior pieces, the 8 track is very cool! I'm taking my time on this one, just enjoying it to much! Nate made some suggestions on the bumper so made those changes and it really made it pop.

Thanks again for the help guys, Have a good weekend everyone!

This rig is a a jaw dropper for sure. Also really enjoy that it's not your
everyday 410. Original is something not seen as much these days.

Thanks for the nice words Quinn, it was good to get to put a face with the person now! Maybe next time we will have the time to visit a little longer.

Enjoy your new tires."thumbsup"

Well it has been almost a month, so time for a little update.
I've been busy in my shop, but building axles and not on this until yesterday.

Plus we had a 50 year snow event last week in our part of Oregon. It took down hundreds of trees that knocked out power and blocked the road in and of Oakridge. It took almost a week to get the road open and restore power. So been working on tree damage in my yard. Things now seem to be back to normal.

Some new shoes for Killer.

Casey suggested a brace for the light bar, so added that.

What are your thoughts on mounting this 4" bar on the hood? I want to try and keep all the lights on the body so when I remove it I don't have to mess with wires connected to chassis mount battery. Also changed out the frame mounted light bar. "thumbsup"

Tail light brackets, door handles and wipers mounted.

Thanks for checking us out!
