Thats a pretty sick paint job ernie! Nice color choices. My paint jobs never look that good lol. I have problems doin paint on inside of body, i get confused which i need to do first. Great job on the bumper too. I like the polished look better than one thats painted

Just a little tidbit on the bumper. To add some strength to it I drilled out the SS rod to attach the two mounts. "thumbsup"

Thanks Casey, I may be getting old but I haven't slowed down much.

Now to a little more tech. I'm not sure if anyone else has thought of trying this but it is a easy way to add 4oz of weight on the axle. Started with this....



And ended up with this! "thumbsup"










Not a bunch of added weight, but it's a direct fit option and comp legal."thumbsup"







But along with this I'm adding a total of 5 ounces down low and up front. A couple steps closer to making it my own. ;-)



And I think if I clearance the axles so they don't bind I going to get a few more degrees of steering. We can always use more steering, RIGHT?

I found more steering with Beef Shanks. I did also get a set of the SSD in gunmetal for the SCX10ii, both added steering over those stock knuckles .

Not a big fan of theirs, When the ascender first came out I started making weighted tubes for the ascender axle and next thing I know my design was borrowed and put into production. :evil: But I love SSd products! "thumbsup"

Thanks for the kind words Justin, I pulled all the Masking off the body. I'm happy with how it came out.

Nice "hair cut"! If you want you could run top on or off. Knights Custom posted a picture of his with earth magnets attached so that the top could be put back on.

When I cut mine off, I cut it so I could put it back on if I wanted a different look. I just haven't attached the magnets yet. I need to get that done!

CAGE,
Some think that cage building takes special skills and I'm here to tell you it's "fake news". Yes I've been doing it for a few years but with a few hand and or power tools most any of you can do it. If you want to know more about building with tubing or rod just ask!


A and B pillars for both sides.




I use a side head grinder with a thin cut off wheel clamped in a vise to cut most all my tubing and rod.
;-)



I do most all my soldering on fire brick and a third hand is one of the many ways I hold parts in place.



The front and rear cross pieces on the drivers side are in place and I'm squaring them up before I solder passenger side pillars.



Several hours later and getting close to having most of the soldering done. On this 1/8" tube I used tape and gravity to hold it in place.



Test fitting on the interior.

Tube work is my favorite part of doing a new build.



You can see that I went with the stock rear bumper.





You can see the detail a little better with the cage off the body.



I was trying to keep the weight down on the tube work and still have some style and my own design, but I keep getting the voice in my head yelling WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!! "Not complete, design not balanced, you can do better". So going to look at it tomorrow and see what I can do to shut that guy up! :mrgreen::mrgreen:
