Very cool to see the Clod still out and about. I also like what you did with the winch mount."thumbsup"

Thanks!

Looks like the Clod won 'Ugliest Duckling' award at the 2013 Holmes Hobbies Trailmaster Challenge. Which is actually excellent considering its the 'look' I have been going for.

The Clod was tied for 2nd in Class 2 at the NIRC Revenge of the Cliffs (Revenge of the Cliffs TTC 2013 - Northern Illinois Rock Crawlers) event over the weekend. Took first in the Rubicon, third I believe in the sled pull, but I sorta dropped the ball in the obstacle course.

Unfortunately the Clod still is a bit top-heavy and that really took its tool during the running of the obstacle course.

You had some damn good runs Zero, this little Clod is performing!

Oh, the rig is still around... :) No updates at this time, I've been trying to get my Class 3 scratch build finished along with the Gelande II done. Really need to break the Clod down, and go through all the bearings, re-grease, etc.

Well I revamped the Clod.

Now it has the following:

  • Vanquish Lightbar
  • XR-10 Width SCX10 Axles
  • Vanquish Chubs, Knuckles, and Lockouts

Revamped the layout of the eletronics, moving the battery from inside the cab into a 'tool box' that was built to contain it. All the electronics were moved into the cab where I was putting the battery.

This has lead to bit of a trade off. With the battery in the cab I was only able to use 1300mah 3S batteries, which did limit the run-time when doing more of a G6s, etc. With the switch, now I can use 2200mah batteries and no longer need to remove the cab and the interior to switch out batteries.

The downside is that it does bring up the CoG a bit. However, it also shifts the CoG backwards too which was always an issue I was fighting with the truggy, especially given the short wheel base.

So we'll see how the trade-offs work!

I know this is an old thread but I love the looks of these clod toughies! Just got my first scx10 and plan to turn it into a truggyblike this!
