Chevy Crewcab Dually Build

And it's done! A hack saw worked really well for this!

After I had the right shape for the fender well, I just cut another piece of styrene in the shape that I wanted and glued it over the already formed fender well. Heat works really well to make the styrene bend smooth. Not too much though! It'll turn to goo! If I didn't answer your question, please try asking again in a different way. Maybe I misunderstood.

Did you see the pics of when I was making the fenders? I just used paper to figure out the shape I wanted. When I had it right, I used it as a template. I used .040 for the floor and fenders. Maybe I'd use thicker for the floor if I did it again?

Yes. I looked around on the internet trying to find one that I thought fit this build and only found one that was close to what I wanted and it was almost $100! So I started thinking, I don't need huge strength. I'm not building a basher, and I'm not going to crawl with it, why not build one? There will be a metal plate inside the bumper to support the winch, and probably brake line for the top of the bumper, but all the rest is styrene. I looked at a lot of pics on the internet of "Big metal bumpers", then I just started cutting and fitting. It's not done yet. I had to hold up my progress on it until I figure out how to do the recessed fog lights that I want on it and get the light bar in the mail and recess it too.
 
I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for taking the time to look at what I'm doing, making comments, asking questions and giving me your opinions! This is my first custom build. Any help is greatly appreciated! I've still got a long way to go with this and all of your kind words are what pushes me on to make it better! So Thank You!
 
Well, I think I did pretty good on the back of the cab.. I put a pic of a real one, then what I ended up with. The front of the bed is just a plain old sheet of styrene. I'm not going to do anything with it because on a real one, there's just a bump in it. It was actually a lot easier to do this than I expected! To do the back of the cab, I used a piece of .040 styrene as the back. Then I took a piece of .060 and cut holes in it in the shapes that I wanted and just glued them together. The next thing is the inside of the tailgate. I've also been trying to figure out how I'm going to do the tail lights on here. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks Greg! I agree. I've never messed with styrene before now. I've really dreaded doing some of this stuff thinking it was going to be really hard but if I sat and thought about how I could do it long enough, most of it was pretty easy. It just takes a creative mind sometimes! Lol!
 
I forgot to add this last night. I found some angle styrene and used it around the top of the bed. A real chevy bed has a lip down both sides of the bed and I thought this did the job pretty well. And super easy! Still trying to figure out what to use for lenses on the back here! Help! Someone out there has to have an idea!
