Hmmm, I think this could be questionable. If the tire strikes the marker on the side that is outside of the gate, you have not entered the gate. I would think that only from the center line of the marker (perpendicular to the line between the 2 markers) inward could be considered actually entering because you can't make progress by rolling over the outside edge of the marker, with the reasoning being you were not within the gate.
It is a valid question and would best be answered with visual representation.
Being that it could come up again we should all be sure we are on the same page with the understanding of the rule, especially before Battle Grounds.
Let's review this next time we meet.
