Building an Aluminum Gooseneck Trailer
I think I'm going to leave it bare. I would like it if my welds were nicer, tig would be ideal. I have a tig machine now, but I'm not good. Part of the point of the project was to practice aluminum welding.
I considered spraying it with bedliner, but I'm just going to leave it alone.
Thanks, aluminum requires some special equipment too. I used a spool gun and argon shielding gas.
Would you mind sharing about the neck on the trailer? Im curious how the trailer attaches to the truck, and stays attached. Im about to resume work on my build, and trying to figure out the best way to attach the trailer. Im not sure how much off roading you will do with yours, but I am needing something that allows for a decent amount of flexing, so Im looking at what others have done.
It won't see much crawling, its just too big and it will high center. I basically built it because, I wanted to see one, and to haul my other crawlers (and possibly adult beverages) two blocks to my friends house who built a crawler playground in his backyard.
as for attachment, on the first page I posted a picture of the hitch ball I made, the trailer has sleeve that goes over the ball, the sleeve has a slot cut into it and I use a body pin to keep it all in place.
I'll post a couple of pictures tonight and some better explanation. It is a very secure connection.
