seems like there are alot of questions about the micros?! alot of people are afraid to take the leap and buy stuff cuz its micro... but i have played around with my trail trekker (it was my first crawler/scale thing) and found what i think is a pretty awesome trail/crawling set up and would be happy to help anyone out. i have gone through a few motors... i burt out the stock one and then switched to a motor from radioshaq, it sucked just like the factory one.... after asking around at lhs (local hobby shops) i saw a xceleron bl system with an 8750kv motor included! i jumped on it! only cost me 50$ with tax!!!!!! :flipoff: when switching to this system you will need a new rx/tx set up . for that i jumped to the flysky gt3b. worked perfectly, awesome radio! next i saw at hobby people a "carbon" gear servo, meant to be really light weight and really strong! only 9$ with tax! SOLD! the gear coming out of the servo has a greyish graphite look to it. (will be in pics below) "thumbsup" after i wanted a battery that could fit in the chassis. i found lipos 2s 350mah "hobby people" for 5$ a piece and they run the truck for about 45 min with a lot of throttle! other then that i have a chopped and glued body, bb's in the front wheels, i have bb's glued to the inside of every rim! no foams in the tires. cut every other nub on the tires. "id re-tractor" winch mod, and custom bumpers. this rig can seriously go anywhere... i mean anywhere! i feel like where ever my 1/10 scale can go so can the trail trekker! (sure you have to use a different line but its still awesome!)

the brushless system is perfect... first off it can out walk you :lmao: like it goes 6mph... maybe 7 i have it geared with the smallest pinion it comes with. it has great low speed control and i havent seen anything wrong with my worm gears, they look brand new! it doesnt break driveshafts, no stripped gears, NOTHING! in an estimate at least 50 packs have been run through it! AT LEAST! i have 3 of these lipos and i typically run it for 2 packs at a time. climbing is super easy and you have wheel speed to get up hills of deep sand!

Video!! This might inspire me to get back into my sumo crawler project. I've got it set up on 2s lipo, but haven't driven it much since my wraith, Project Venom, has been taking all my time/resources.

Love the truggy body. I need to figure out something scale for the sumo.

Edit: Hey are you in San Diego or South Dakota?

Thanks for posting up the info, man I have a sweet Xmas stocking worth of Micro goodness coming this year!

You have me sitting here going " HUH?"

I can't imagine that set-up not cogging like crazy for low end crawling. I only know what I crawl on and I know that everyone is different on what they think is "serious" crawling. I am skeptical but interested to see how it crawls. A video will be great.

As for speed...I don't doubt it cruises. 8750 is really high! I ran a 4200kv BL1230 brushless once and even with the MASSIVE controllability with my Castle Creations Micro Pro ESC I could not get the cogging out of it. The 2000kv out-runners do a good job too.

But the 8750 has me scratching my head at being described as a good crawling motor

Not trying to knock what you did...just at a loss for how it works "thumbsup"

The stock motor is lacking torque and way too fast as it is, I can't see how a non-sensored inrunner that spins that fast can have any torque. I can't see being able to avoid cogging to tell ya the truth. Maybe if you're sticking to the scale trail running, not gnarly low speed "crawling."

Not knocking, just curious. Vid?

will get vid tomorrow, will rock climb some more serious stuff with it

Yeah, the big guys trump the little guys for sure!

I finally did the wheel widening mod on my sumo a couple nights ago - man it makes a huge difference!

I rarely drive it since I got my wraith a while back though. Had some good times with it recently - just need new tires and a cool body for it now!

some one please post up with a good brushless motor that has both low speed crawling and high wheel speed. want both rock crawling torque and high speed hill climbs. please help me

i have same motor set up on 2s and i have some coging problems but ima try the 58t spur 9t pinion mod and hopefully it works good ill post vid when i get spur.

oh and now im running stock 54t spur and i think 14t pinion or 12t whatever the big one is cuz the motor shaft sets to far away from spur to run the 9t and i think the 58t and 9t should make it alot better to get the motor rpm up at crawling speed so ill be in the power

heres my vid of 8750kv motor with 10t pinion and 58t spur i made it cog to show that it still does but i have to barely hit the throttle its almost hard to make it do it i also showed how slow itll go without cogging it still cogs but its not that bad if it does it just add a little more throttle. i have a 4500kv turnigy to im just waiting on the bullet connectors to hook it up ill have a vid on that to.
