i know nothing about brushless motors so my question is will a super rooster ESC run a brushless motor or are there special ESC's for brushless :?:

The super rooster will not work. Brushless motors require brushless controller.
However, there is now an exception to that rule. Novak and possibly other companies have released Brushless controllers that can run either brushed or brushless motors.

The mamba maxx also controls brushed and brushless motors.
