boyer/scx10/t-runner project

i had the same problem with my transmission, i tried fixing it by filling the holes with some epoxy resin and then drill the holes out again but the glue didn't want to set, so i just ordered some new transmission casing, it's so cheap you might as well and save yourself some hassle. i reckon if you moved the shocks into the higher holes on the shock hoops that would lover the centre of gravity which would make it less top heavy and in my opinion it would improve the look of your truck."thumbsup"

Yeah, my issue right now is time. I was hoping to be able to run this rig this weekend in the colorado recon. I live way out in the middle of no where and likely can't get a new housing by saturday (even when I order stuff 2nd day air, etc. shipping takes 4-5 days. they say 2-3 days but they mean 4-5). What I'm hoping is that the crawl shop in denver has a tranny housing and can bring it to the event saturday. This way I could pay them and install it quickly saturday morning before the event. If they don't have one in stock, I'm going with shoe goo. "thumbsup"

Totally missed your question post in the Colorado thread about body mounting.

Velcro is good and will hold as long as there is enough of it.
If you wanted to body posts without welding you could use the shock mounting plates and run the body posts out to the body.

Truck looks way cool and I've got your trans housing packed up for Saturday.

So I've been doing a lot of tweeking. Moved all the electronics around, and mounted the battery a bit lower than it was but further behind the front axle. I made some aluminum side panels to protect the guts and went with velcro for body mounting. Lots of other adjustments over the past 2 days. I didn't take a lot of pictures... I still have some work to do before saturday. Also, Big thanks to The Crawl Space for hooking me up with the part I need before the recon this weekend. I'll have to install the tranny housing really quick before the event. The current tranny is just not stable enough with the stripped holes. I've been able to get by over the last 3 days in testing, but it really needs the new housing. Other than the tranny, right now I'm feeling ok about the truck. I think I've overcome most of the major problems and have a few days to still tweek a bit more. Sans tranny, this thing can definitely complete the recon. Oh, yeah and I totally went to town on the t-runner body. It looks goofy but runs pretty well so far.

So the t-runner/boyer/scx10 made it through the recon g6. I had a great time out there. I had to make a few repairs (tranny mainly) before the day run, and also had to repair a few other things before the night run. I could have really used my lights during the night run. I will install lights pretty soon. Overall the truck made it through the day and I'm pretty happy with it.

Thought I'd add some pictures of the boyer. I'd rebuild the tranny, added 32p gears, upgraded all of the outdrive shafts to the newer axial versions (no more dropping driveshafts), Other than that the truck is still running strong. "thumbsup"
