VP stainless or titanium links have the threads machined onto the ends of the link and are part of the link itself as opposed to SSD, Axial, or many others that internally thread a "pipe" then you use separate set screws to attach the rod end to the link. The only way to adjust the length on that type is to use spacers. With a threaded link like VP makes or the 10.2 RTR steel links, you simply give the rod end a twist our two in or out until it's the perfect length. No removing rod ends or set screws completely to install or remove washers or spacers then finding out it's not the right length and repeating. Having the threads as part of the link is also much stronger than set screws and you never have to worry about loosening or breaking off a set screw inside the pipe. I've seen many set screw type links fail but I've only seen maybe one or two threaded links fail and those were subjected to abusive type driving.
Thanks for the information screamer. I didn't know that was how the links were made. I figured they were machined with male threads when you stated they were different.

I just got the shocks in 2 hours ago. 30wt 2 hole pistons in front with 2.75" 2.0 lb springs. The rear is fitted with 50 wt 2 hole pistons (I may change to 3 hole) with 2.75" 1.4 lb springs. Ride height has been reduced due to the sag in suspension. This should prove helpful for sidehilling. I added the SSD d hole steel wheels and the link kit from SSD. All ends are ssd with nylon spacers. Only stock ends are on the drag link and they are fitted with axial steel balls. I still have my beef patties to get installed. I will wait until I'm done tuning to see fit them. So far I have gone from 6lb 2oz stock with battery and body to 6lb 6.8oz with mods. So a little almost 5 Oz down low.

Nice, thanks for detailed setup with pics. 8)"thumbsup"

My biggest upgrade would be driving skill.

Bingo! "thumbsup"

Well I gave into the dark side ajsmcs, couldn't take looking at my scx10 II builders kit, just sitting there untouched, calling to me! So I started working on it at 3 am this morning!

That's the spirit! Good man.

You said you're a Traxxas guy. This was my first 1/10 that wasn't a Traxxas, and it was a really pleasant departure from their style.

Except for the shocks. Traxxas really spoiled me on those...

Mounting Rock Beasts made a big difference to me. I used CI Lil Nova's although the outer foams did wear out real fast..

Heavy rims & "Sticky" tires.
Stock tires are worse than you think.
Me? 3pc Aluminum from China & Duratrax Showdowns.

Yeah I have a stampede 2x4, a pede 4x4, three slashes, an Emaxx, an Erevo, and a XMAXX, so I guess you could say I'm kinda a TRAXXAS guy. I also have an ARRMA OUTCAST on order and now my first AXIAL.

Good to know I'm not the only one moving from Traxxas. This kit is my first non Traxxas, too. 2 slashes, a 4x4 slash, and a nitro 4 tec. I've always liked the scale stuff, though. Glad I finally pulled the trigger.

I'm gonna keep my traxxas rc's. Got one for whatever I'm feeling that day. One for bashing, speed runs, one road, off-road whatever I'm feeling.

I have a Rustler that I bought when I was 11 (aka almost 17 years ago), and a T-Maxx that I bought when I was 14. I got out of RC for awhile until a college project revived my interest. Bought a couple of Losi Micros on a whim, had a lot of fun with those, got into micro helis, then standard size planes, and finally came back to the 1/10 stuff about 1-1/2 years ago. Last summer I basically upgraded or replaced almost everything on the Rustler. It was like $500 worth of stuff + a $200 radio. I realize that's pennies compared to some of the trucks on this forum, but it was more than 4 times more than I spent to buy it new. XD

So the SCX10-II is actually the first 1/10 I've bought since I was 14.

I'd love a Revo, and the X-Maxx looks pretty killer. I'm thinking my next truck will be a big scale. Like a Yeti XL or something...

Do you have a DX4C/S/R? If yes, I highly recommend you return that SR310, go on eBay, and get an SR410.

There are people who literally just buy combo packages of Spektrum Tx's and part out the Rx and Tx's separately.

You can get BRAND NEW SR410s for the exact same price as an SR310. That's where I got all of mine. Even if you don't think you need 4 channels, IMHO I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I mean, think of all the stuff you could use on those 2 aux channels...a winch, 2-speed transmission, Dig unit (if they ever make one), light controller, 4 wheel steering, you name it. Coming from go-fast trucks its pretty easy to forget all that. "thumbsup"

TBH, I almost wish I had waited a year and sprung for the new 6ch...
