best shocks between Axial and Traxxas

Gmade does make some really great shocks. I think what they lack is softer spring rates, almost all of their springs are too stiff for a light rig in my experience.

This has been my experience as well.

The GMade 85mm XD diaphragm shock is fantastic. Smooth like butter though pretty large in diameter for a scale truck. The GMade RSD shock I could be nice, but the springs are maddening with how stiff they are. I still need to find a softer spring that fits them.

Axial springs fit them well. And, there are dozens of different rates to choose from as you know.

I think the traxxas are nicer than the axials, But how you build them is just as important. You need to use Ae Green slime/ Amain blue lube to condition the o rings and not force shock shafts through o rings that are tightened down.
I try to find race shocks that fit my rigs, the difference between the mentioned shocks is nill. Stepping up to a good shock makes a difference. I run Ae rc83.2e shocks on my bomber, nice 16mm units. Team Assoc., tekno, kyosho, tlr/losi and mugen are a step up.

I have no experience with 10.3 shocks as every other axial shock Ive ever used has been garbage. I switched out the shocks on both 10.2 & trail king that I have over to stock traxxas shocks. On my wraith I went with GMade shocks. Been happy with switching over as all the other shocks you couldnt get to not leak.

My 10.3 shocks have performed well under my early Bronco, but that's after:

Completely disassembling them, replacing the stock wiper in the seal cartridge with 2 greased O-rings and Teflon taping all of the threads. I also tuned them with the right springs. They're smooth and don't leak.

The Traxxas shocks I've had didn't need any tinkering to be leak free and smooth.

If I wanted a shock I'd be happy with out of the box, I'd pick Traxxas. But after some tinkering with the Axial shocks they're both probably quite similar in performance and reliability.
