I have been using the TS4000 for all of my silver soldering, but just noticed the flame control knob on the TS8000. I'm pretty happy with the 4000 except for the over-sized flame. Does anyone have both of these? Does the knob control gas flow or air? I know the 8000 says it's 30% faster than the 4000, so if the knob just brings it down to the 4000's level it won't be worth it to me.

Just thought I'd ask before spending the money.

Right now a Smith torch or anything similar isn't in the budget.

sorry bud you kinda assed on this one. the ts8000 is better but the flame is the same size as the ts4000. i have adjusted the knob with no improvement. i feel they are both about the same.

Hey this is the torch I like to use when brazing small material. Im not sure off hand how much it cost. I believe it is close to the of the soldering/sweating torches.

OX2550KC Cutting, Welding and Brazing Torch Kit (OX2550KC)

I just picked up the ts8000 from lowes for 59.00, and it came with a bottle bag, can't wait to fire it up
My old one leaked gas like a faucet. It caught fire at the valve last week so i had to get a new one.
