We had a good time at the Frankenmuth Hobby Center today. Twizted Metal, Whalebone, Reacharound, Dansom and I were there for about 4 hours or so. Small pile in the store and some fun crawling in the rocks and water outside. I've got some pics and video that I will post up later. My camera battery died so I need to charge it before I can extract the images.
Aaron the owner seems like a good guy and is interested in getting into crawling. He has a few axial parts but can get things in 2 or 3 days. We'll keep you posted about future crawling their.
lots of fun! even tho I stripped my tranny gears, parts not avalible till mid Dec. so in a couple of weeks! Might have to turn the creeper into a Scaler! all your guys looked good.
Good meeting all of you. Did anybody else show up after I left?
Hopefully Aaron gets into crawling and set up a course, If not still got the water spots outside to play in!
Well that worked so here are the rest. We'll start with a couple of pics of my rig. All of what you are going to see was filmed in the manmade creek in the Frankenmuth place.
These next videos are of reach around. He ended up frying a motor and breaking a drive shaft.
Our last videos are of Dansam's rig.
Well that's all the video's that I have. Jay said he had some pics so maybe he will post his later. What I should have taken a picture of was all the water that came out of my tires when I got home.
At the moment not much. We're trying to get something together in Frankenmuth for the winter. The Frankenmuth hobby shop/us may be putting together some rocks to crawl on this winter. Keep an eye on this link for get togethers. Their are a bunch of us in the general area that get together and crawl at different spots.
Stripped down the clodbuster body and repainted it. Now looks the same but unscathed. Also took a ride to Riders (was passing by on a run to pick up a full scale transmission) and purchased a clear 73 chevy truck body. Allready painted it up. This will be my "rock" body while the clod bod will be for trail riding and other scale stuff that does not include dragging the body on rocks 8) hoping tires will arrive monday. I have a line on a speed controller but wont know till wed.
Well I was real tempted to get a new body, but decided to add some body mounts to the front and began redoing the side runners. Also got the rear lockouts put on. The back seems really tight compared to the rear. May have to trimout the ends of the lockouts. Things to do before we run again. Need a new front bumper and redo the rear cage area.
Did you know. I was weighing my tires today to make sure I had the heavy ones up front. The memory foam really holds the water. I had to do a lot of squeezing to get them empty. Made me think that I could fill them with water and use that to add weight. They don't seem to leak unless a lot of pressure is used. Just a thought.
Nope been busy working. Im not sure it will not be a biggie talking Aron into getting ito crawling. I think we need to keep dropping by and using the fascilities like we did last weekend. Before you know it we will be one of the many "events" they put on. Maybe have a HUGE event one day. What do we really need from Aron anyway? They have lots of rocks and water features around there. And as you saw they dont seem to mind us there. I say we use it as our personal play ground and eventually Arron will stock parts and add rocks to his pile."thumbsup"
Yeah, it was fun to crawl there. But the problem is this winter could leave us with snow too deep and air to cold to do anything outside. It would be nice to have somewhere warm and friendly.
Okay, I put on the rear lockouts. They seem really tight, not as much motion on the rear axles as the front. I put the three little washers on the inside of the housing then the bearing and the big washer on the outside of the washer. All of this is in the inside of the housing. Did I do this right. I didn't have any instructions so I was guessing. Help please.
Sounds about right jeff...but to get rid of the tightness on the axles back the screws of a tad on all 4 sounds like you did want I did the first time I put then on you wrenced them down to tight back them off a thread or 2 and they should loosin them up "thumbsup"
