Bay City or Tri Citys MI

Welcome aboard.

Hi Im new to the Rock crawling thing. I just purchased an ax10 scorpion with scale frame and a clodbuster body. I purchased some add ons like a working winch and other visual stuff. I want to make it scale. Im based in Frankenmuth Mi. Ive been flying rc planes for 16 years or so and have done a lot of full scale off roading in my life. I did rc nascar style carpet racing but got bored. Im hoping to start a local rc scale off road club. One that will go to the mounds ORV park and scale backyard courses at different members houses as well as maybe a day at the dunes or wherever. I cant wait till next summer for some fun. Ill work the kinks out of my new used ride and get it right for summer. I will do some winter stuff as well. I have access to Frankenmuth Hobbies to set up an indoor event as well at the riverplace in town. Ill post pics as soon as all my stuff gets in and the wrenches start a flying. :lmao:

Their are a lot of great guys on this link that are willing and able to help. We are definetly interested in some indoor crawling this winter. Keep us informed on your progress and keep watching for us meeting up to crawl when the weather is halfway decent."thumbsup"

Welding

Almost forgot how much I suck at welding. I built a rear bumper last night that I like a lot. Tried to weld it to my aluminum frame and melted some of the frame off. I got some picks that I will put up on my post soon as I find the cable. Hopefully I can include pick of the front bumper that I am drawing out right now. Will be some nice weight added to the front."thumbsup"

is the bumper aluminum? You can't weld steel to aluminum . You have to make some tabs on the bumper and bolt it to the frame"thumbsup"

Said he wanted to think about it. Not sure if there's enough people around to crawl lol. I think we need to plan a date get our truck's out and show up there. Show him what's up lol. 10 to 30 guy's in his shop at one time.:lmao:

I aught to have my truck hopefully by the end of the week and it shoul be functional by next week. I've known Arron forever and I think we can work something out with the riverplace to put on "demonstrations"! Come spring I'll set up some off roading events and get a local off road club going.

Well me and reach around. My brain's his money just bought hook out. So between us we got 5 truck's now. Let's get something going!!!!!

Frankenmuth

I'm in for Frankinmuth.

Yes, Chris I now know that you can't weld steel to aluminum and put some tabs on the bumper. I will be putting up some pics and info on my build link.

My tires and other stuff came today. I have the tires mounted and they are sweet. Looks like I'll have to pick up a few thinks to do the straight axle adapters and the new transmission plate.

Hopefully I can get the new stuff up tonight. I have the weekend open for some crawling or invading Frankenmuth."thumbsup"

Well this weekend would work, but I'm not sure if I'll have the truck yet (bought it on eBay Sunday and is being shipped from out of state) I'd live to meet you guys either way. Arron has a small rock pile in his shop the real fun would be using the riverplace as a crawling ground (lots of hills and water, and some big rocks surrounding the water. After I get thetruck I was going to do some dissasembly and some scale stuff as well as skidplate up the bottom. If the truck arrives in time I guess I can just run it to see whats what. Do you guys have any pics of past events?

The link worked Jeff. Nice truck! I'm sure I'll go through a similar build process. Looking forward toall my stuff arriving so I start with the fun. Thanks to all for th friendly welcome. Looking forward to meeting you'all eventually.

Dan
