Axial SCX10 "1.5" Defender 90

Re: Axial SCX10 Defender 90

So more work done today. Front/back bumpers, winch, brush/tree branch windshield guards, dirty windows, more weathering.

Re: Axial SCX10 Defender 90

Oh, and has enough flex for a good trail truck. All four wheels remained grounded.

The ride height remains scale for a 4x4.

Started tail gate. Need to wait for putty to dry. Will start working on hinges.

Re: Axial SCX10 Defender 90

Ok, tailgate done. Just need some limiter straps, or chains and locking latches each side.

Re: Axial SCX10 Defender 90

Ok, a lot more work done today. Made friction latches for tail gate. Added gas cans, hi lift jack, tools, gas cap, mounted spare tire and my dog upfront.

So, not 100% sold on spare tire location. I could mount it horizontally in bed, but then lose "storage" space. Or, I could get a bumper mounted swing tire holder. Or just not run a spare?

Ok, feel like I am back on track. Did not like the spare tire mounted upright.

So exterior / interior our done except for two items.
1. Rear tail lights
2. Driver

Now I need to do electronics, lights, etc. The boring, frustrating stuff. For me, anyways.

The detail and custom work on this build is great, love the duct tape on the seats. It’s coming along really nice.

Thank you, I'm trying. I watch builds like your's and others to learn and broaden my knowledge. This hobby offers so much for everyone.

I just wish a electric wiz lived close by.

Re: Axial SCX10 Defender 90

Rear bumper/ swing tire carrier arrived today. Will have to replace screw knob to hold tire on for scale, but otherwise I think it looks good.

So, it's decided. I am going to cannibalize all of my good hop up parts off of this frame and add them to my Unimog build.

I just wanted to do this body to learn how to use styrene for fun. I will finish the body detailing because I do not like to leave things undone.

Re: Axial SCX10 Defender 90

So, this is the D90 on portals and larger 1.9 tires.

Just wanted to see it like this.

Re: Axial SCX10 Defender 90

Ok, so body is now done. I added rust to bed, rear lights and a mounting tab on the roof rack for a rear facing flood light (I do not have any small lights left to mount atm).

I could led lights later, but I doubt I'll ever run this body or do anything with it.

That wraps this body build up.

Thanks for looking.
