Auction 1.9 Brute benefit build 4 Briansbodies w/ RPP Hobby, RC4WD,& CrawlerGraphics

Many of you have heard about Brian Foss (Briansbodies) who severely broke his ankle at an AZ crawling comp a few weeks ago.

Well I met Brian Foss (Briansbodies) a few months back when I moved to the area, and we have become fast friends. I was going to ride with him to the comp where he was injured, but I was just recovering from some sort of flu and decided I was still too sick to go. When I heard about his problems I thought that maybe we could do what we love (for me its building scalers) and help Brian out at the same time. I have been working on this build mainly with Brian Muzzy (Bmuzz1) and we have recieved donations from several other local AZ crawlers. Our plan is to build a scale 1.9 TJ based crawler that we will then auction off to the highest bidder and donate all of the money from the sale to Brian for use with his medical bills etc.

The build will also include a very generous donation from Corey at RPP Hobby which will be unveiled soon! (Don't you love the suspense???) RPP Hobby rocks (as does RCC! Please support both!) RPP has great prices, fast shipping, great customer service, and lots of cool scale and crawling parts.

So far we have gotten several parts for the build:

John(MTHead) donated the XL5 ESC

Brian Muzzy (Bmuzz1) donated the 645 servo, air tank, fairlead, winch, rc4wd ball ends and aluminum links, Reign antenna, brake line for the cage.

Clint (65Volkswagen) donated the Axial 1.9's

Art (Bikedad) donated everything else including the axles, shocks and lots of leaf springs.

I am donating the body and building a frame and cage etc.

Here are some fuzzy pics of the parts:

Please follow along with the build and start saving up your money to buy this scaler! We have lots of plans for this build. Bmuzz1 and I will be updating the build as it goes along.

I hope I did not forget anyone!!!

I would also like to thank everyone here that has contributed to all of the fundraising for Brain!

The body started as a Nikko Jeep TJ

I cut it up and modified it a bit to make it look like a Brute with a 4Wheelers Supply High Clearance hood:

I then bent up a frame following the profile of this YJ frame, I streched it about one scale foot so the Jeep can have a tube flat bed...or a box bed maybe:

cut it in half and started working on adding rear leaf springs:

here is the body with the chassis:

Thanks guys for all the comments on the build so far!

Verne and I have a long way to go yet before we can call this thing done and we don't intend on rushing it either.
Verne will be handling the majority of the tube work himself and I will be helping with the interior and anything else that pops into my head or I can get my hands on.:)

Stay tuned for those updates and thanks for subscribing!"thumbsup"

more donations and an update

First I would like to announce that montana.matt has offered to donated a set of Montana Scale Designs Fordyce wheels to the build.

Thanks so much Matt!

Also it looks like Bmuzz1 may be donating his 1.9 Rock Loks to fill up the wheelwells on this thing.

thanks guys!!!

For an update:

Despite breaking a 3mm.5 tap cleaning threads in part of the cage(I am good at breaking taps) I got some progress pics to post! I am going for a cage that looks a bit like the one from polyperformance/Genright. I then will tie the C-pillars into downbars on the bed/frame. My plan is that this will help anchor the body to the frame.

more soon!

SO I was without the camera this weekend, but I got some details on the cage done. I added some grab handles to the A pillar bend and some supports to the B pillar. Have a look.
