Any other TT02 here

I'm sticking with 64P gears for now out of laziness. Its a few screws to swap pinions but changing spurs requires opening the rear gear case. The 64P gears should be fine though.

The 17.5 is quite fun once the gearing is sorted out. My cousin had to resort to running a 3S pack on his car with a 17.5 and stock gearing to keep up with my car.

Which batteries are you running that the strap didn't interfere with the bullets? It was blocking the negative side on both of my Helios and Gforce packs.

Just edited in some pics on my last post. 2s Fantom 6100's clear the strap just fine.

I was worried 17.5T was going to be slow but after watching the Youstube and reading up on gearing, I understand now. Geared like a giraffe and its gets moving.

dang. I was all excited about getting my TT01 out, then I see the reason for TT02 was LiPo. and revised steering. hergle bergle... well I guess I can still break it out and have fun. maybe my son will get it for his first on road/drifter and I will move on to something else (most likely MST RWD). I cant find any eagle RWD kits for the TT01 anyway.

this thread is cool though. I love the Tamiya entry level chassis. TT01/2 and CC01 are awesome and surprisingly capable. best of all... CHEAP!!!

Here is mine. Love this car and thinking about setting it up for drifting.

That's a good looker! I think i'll pick up another TT02 or TT02D for drifting. Can't limit it to just one.

Got my oil filled shocks assembled and installed.

Thanks man! I had always wanted the Porsche and one day just decided to get and and I really enjoyed putting it together. It was a shelf queen for a while but now has a good amount of run time on it. Once I get my yeti where I want it I will start working on making the TT a drifter.

I think my old rc drifting stuff, including the tt01, are in the back and bottom of my storage unit. Would take a couple hours of digging lol and its been so long i would need new nicad packs for sure. Or nimh? Forgot what old 2000 era cars run on. Pre lipo lol
Might be worth digging out, maybe sell my hpi nitro rs4 to fund updates to the tt01?

Eyeballing a new scion frs body from tamiya to match my 1:1 also ;)

I had a great time running mine at the track until the GPM upper link fell apart. Stay away from those! Handling got wonky and I clipped a corner post. No damage thankfully, but hit so hard it switched my on/off switch to off! Never had that happen before.

I found mine very tail happy with the stock settings - especially off power entering a turn. Have some carbon shock towers en-route so I can make some adjustments.

I don't have a TT-02, but I spent the weekend building my first Tamiya on-road car. It's the new M-07 Concept. It has a monocoque chassis so the build is stupid simple in a good way and it went together in no time at all.

I painted, it looks like a car now.

Just need to trim about 11 ft off the body posts, install the new pinion, and go drive.

Very nice M-power there. I still need to trim my body posts too.

I like these M cars. That's really what got me looking into these Tamiya kits. The kits are simple, easy to build and pack a bunch of value in for cheap. If you have a radio and lipo already, you can be up and running for $100. I'll be picking up an M-07 soon. Still spending crazy money getting into this new house right now tho.

I had no interest in the M cars, especially the FWD variety, until I saw a friend's. They are a different challenge. From what everybody says, the M-07 is a much better design with much higher quality plastics than that previous M series cars.

I will have the electronics installed tonight so I can run it in the driveway.

One thing also is I have been pleasantly surprised by the speed and pep of the stock silver can brushed motor. I have a 17.5T or 13.5T to swap in but not really in a rush since I'm still having fun with the stock brushed. I need to learn suspension tuning on these cars before turning up the speed. I've ordered some cones to setup a track on the driveway.

The 27T is faster than people give it credit. The good thing about staying at a reasonable speed is that crashes hurt a lot less since you break less parts.

Cones make a boring driveway a lot more fun for sure.

WOW, I am soo glad I found this section"thumbsup" I just bought the NSX model... I LOVE IT. I bought the proto form 2016 Camaro body to run on it. I do have a few questions though. My wheels are very warbly, feels loose around the axles/dogbones? I believe I have all the bearings installed? Also do any of you recommend a site for ordering stock as well as hop up parts? I ordered the kit from Tower hobbies:roll:. I am looking for a set of the "long axles" to use on the rear.. I am a regular axial "user":ror:sooo... This on road stuff is new:lmao:. Any hints and tricks will be greatly appreciated:ror:. I do agree that the kits are very good for the money"thumbsup"

Thanks

Man, this thread makes me want to hurry up and finish my MST CFX-W build and get to work on my TT-02 Porsche Carrera RSR. I've already got a TT-01E MK5 VW GTI that was built to look like my old car. Tamiya does great with lexan bodies.

Most baseline Tamiya kits come with plastic bushings. Replacing them with ball bearings is highly recommended.. Do a little digging on ebay, there's a lot of TT02 parts out there. if you don't mind ordering from overseas, RCMart has an incredible TT02 selection (I just ordered my carbon towers from there) Just be aware that some of the suspension parts for the TT02S do not work on the regular TT02.

We must think alike, I've got a TT02 and CFX on my bench as well. "thumbsup"

Keeping my eye out for the upgrade blue chassis...they are like unicorns! I'll get the white one if I have to, but prefer the blue.

TQ Racing is my favorite source for onroad parts. They ship fast and shipping is only $2.99 on most small orders.

RC Mart has a lot of parts too and can save you some good money if you don't mind waiting for orders to come from China.

To take care of the wheel wobble, check to make sure your wheel hexes are seated properly. I had to reinstall the hex on one of my wheels like 3 times because the pin kept moving slightly causing the hex to sit uneven. 5 mm shims to take up the in and out play on the axle helps too. If you haven't already, definitely replace any bushings with bearings. A full set of bearings is only like $15 but is one of the best things you can do for the base kit.

As for the long axles, you would need the rear axles from a TG10 and wider hexes. The axles with appropriate hexes should be good for about 6 mm of width. I would guess you are trying to fill out the wheel wells on that Protoform Camaro body so an extra 6 mm should look much better.

Be aware that TG10 axles only work on the TypeR and TypeS since the regular kits use the "fat" outputs and dogbones. If you've got the plastic fantastic diff outputs you'll need new diff outputs and dogbones to use the TG10 parts.

You can get wide axles for the standard TT - the Porsche and Capri came with them. Tamiya C parts are the long axles for the standard kit. (Part # 51529)
