any crawlers in MN?

In looking over the calendar at our club website tonight, I noticed that all our comps with the exception of 1, the RC-X Games in Cambridge are all at Taylors Falls. While Taylors is probably One of the best because of it's close location to the Twincities, and its infinite lines, I know we had at One time talked about doing an out of town weekend comp.
I'm gonna propose the idea of the Duluth/Two Harbors/ "Northshore Classic Crawl" weekend comp. I'll work with Steve (Silverdirt on scouting a suitable location.
Looking at the calendar, I was just thinking Aug 10-12th. Post up you vote/thoughts/ideas.

That is all Kevins doing, we did agree on doing at least one in Duluth. And other locations if we can find them as well.

I'm gonna just toss the idea out there of a Duluth/Two Harbors/Northshore weekend comp. I'll work with Steve (Silverdirt on scouting a suitable location.
I am originally from Two Harbors and me and silverdirt talked about this and have a few locations to decide from, zx9 knows how to get ahold of me (pm'ed him my # on one of the boards we both roam) as we have been racing together quite a bit lately--I have been showing him the proper way all the way to rub the rails.

Sounds good, please check out some locations and try and get some pic's.
The sooner this is planned, the sooner people can get camping/hotel reservations set.

Just an FYI, I did label Taylor's on all of the comps just so I could post the entire schedule. I also just put 10:ooam again just to have a start time in there. I can always change whatever on there once we decide something.

I have also been souting some areas as well. I will take the camera with next time and take some pics. I'm not shure if I will make the GTG. I might be putting the trans and clutch in my car.

Its hard finding decent areas around here... With disc golfing, I do get to see a lot of parks. But none of them ever seem to have much for rocks.

Bridges are ok for bashing, but not the kind of area I would want to hold a comp at.

I am not sure I will get an opprtunity to get out to take any pic's any time real soon unfortunatly because the wife went back to work yesterday and I am Mr Mom until I go back to work. Silverdirt barely has time to come on and say hi because he is workin hard and has now bought a new homstead for himself....

If ZX9 comes up this weekend a day early I think I can get away for a while to show him some spots to crawl, in fact the offer to stay over is still good too( I should ask the wife but hel if it comes to it you can sleep in my half of the house), we can go scouting Sat afternoon and grab a few beeers Sat night then race Sunday...give ya another lesson on how to flush a race down the tubes I will. ZX9 and his buddy are my go to guy's for parts too--hell I am over buyin parts off them more than my LHS.

if i got a stock tlt for the start of my build would it be something that would be good to bring to a gtg just to mess around since i do not have a real crawler at the moment? i think it might be a possibility after i saw freetime's trail rigs that were stock ta01, ta02, or toureg kits. i do not remember what they were exactly. i do have electronics i could put in it, although my mamba 4600kv motor may be a bit fast. oh, and here is a great north shore park. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/gooseberry_falls/index.html

Tman, tell ya what if you get a stock tlt I would sell you a locked pede tranny with bearings and the upgraded internals along with my old set of moabs on rims for $60. This would be a great start for you, all you would need from there are shocks, a chassis, links, and a body. And troy should still have the torsion chassis I gave him to test out, its for a TLT.

With the torsion setup, axles, wheels, and a tranny you would be just about set. Add a lathe motor or a slower brushless, high torque servo and a body :-P You could end up with a very capable crawler without breaking the bank.

This is the chassis I made for him, one for Kevin too. Its a complete setup, just add axles and tranny :) If you brought your axles locked, and electronics I could put this all together for you in 30 minutes in the parking lot.

If you get a TLT, I have some extra parts I'd donate or sell very cheap to help you out. I'm sure a few of the other guys might have a few items laying around they might do the same with. I know I have a few sets of used 2.2 tires, and some other stuff around.

i currently have 65$ and make 9$ a week. so it should happen soon. ultimate hobbies no longer has tlt rockbusters. is there anywere that still sells them for a reasonable price. ebay seems a bit pricy.

You are going to have a hard time finding the $70 TLT kits now, they have been discontinued in the US. Some places are going to still import them from Japan, but they will not be as cheap as they were before.

could i see a picture of a the chassis used in a rig?
i imagine someone here has this rig built. also, would this perform better than an sw2? that is what i was looking at. i may be making $9 a week now, but i am looking for a job. if i can get a job sometime soon i will have more options, and when the grass starts growing enough i can start mowing my lawn to make some money as well.

Pictures are in this folder http://www.turtlecrawler.com/trucks/tlt/turtle/images/

And the steering link is carbon fibre

And if you look at any of my comp photos from last season, I was running this setup with my green turtle. Took several top spots last season, only reason I am not using that setup now is because a tube frame just looks cool :) I am not sure how well my current 2.2 will do in comp use yet, it does have one 1st place spot under its belt though.

This would just be a good option to get you started cheap (Its free!), even if you only use it once or twice. With this setup you do not need to buy any suspension links, ball ends, servo mounts, or shocks. You will have no problems competing against any of the other trucks with this setup.

if you have that rig still together or if anyone else has a rig with this chassis i would like to see it in person. if my ride pulls through then i will be at taylors this sunday. i will tell you if i am going as soon as i find out if i have transportation so you can bring a built rig with that chassis if you have one.

I'm working on One right now, I'm not sure if it will be done by Sunday. If I can make it? I'll bring it either way. (done or partly done)
