Inching away, a little more progress

I have a new unbuilt set of Tlt axles here, I might just attempt a Comanche truggy build after i'm finished with my comp rig.

I finished linking the front of the XJ, reworked the steering set up, and mounted the front bumper. I still need to mount the rear bumper, and body, build a new roof rack, paint the rims flat Black, and mount some lights on the rack. I'm pretty happy with the way it's turning out.

I also found a set of lights i had ordered a long time ago, still in the box. I figured wth, why not try and use them. I hooked them up in my f-250 truggy, headlights, taillights, front and rear blinkers, and light bar light, which I haven't got mounted yet.

Looking good TomE "thumbsup"
Seeing you running around with it a couple weeks ago, is what got me interested in finishing up mine, I've only had the body sitting here since they came out, was about time I got going on it.

I just messed around in the shop a little today. I'm kind of switching off on projects, so I don't get burnt out on one.
Today I added some PIA HID lights on the F-250 truggy. I'm thinking of putting this light bar on top, since the PIA's have 5 lights in that string.

Yeah, she's beat, but "rusty and trusty" is the motto for this ole gal

The PIA's work with the throttle, anything over 1/3rd and they go to a high beam mode.

Blinkers blink when you turn the wheel left or right.
Yeah, I know, I could of bought one of the Tamiya hi-lift sound and light kits, but this was only $35 compaired to what Tamiya wants for theirs.

I had to make a trip to Hub today for a motor for the F-250, while I was there I spotted some lights that I thought would work well for the XJ. They were cheap, and most important, they are the right shape and size. I just need to add some trim around them.

I need a set of those, what are they from? and did they have more?
and how lives close?

They were at Hub Hobby in Richfield. Made by RAM, I bought the last set they had, but they usually have a good stock, I'm sure they'll have more within a week or so. I'll keep my eyes out for when they get more. They were $15.00. TCS also has the 3R winches on sale for like $23 with the controller.

Sat night in the shop

I made some body mounts for the XJ tonight, I don't like posts for my scalers, or comp rigs. I much prefer Velcro, and since I don't have any plans at this time to do any interior, simple hoops will do.

Lower hoop was for another body, it was just as easy to leave it on.
Body sits at just the height I was looking for. Rims have been painted Black to match the 1:1

Now that the body is mounted, I started to mount the Proline bumpers I had planned on using, I like how the front looks, but the rear bumper just didn't work for me. I decided to make a simple tube bumper, while I was at it, I had an idea for a swing out spare tire carrier. I'm in the process of trying to carry out that idea now.

My idea is simple enough, the 3/16" brake line slides right inside the 1/4" brake line. I made some slits in the 1/4" tube so I can braze the swing arm to the hinge pivot tube. (that's going to be the tricky braze joint) I may need to widen my slits for more swing, but, I don't need much swing out, since I don't think I really need to open the tailgate anyway

The bumper is going to be pretty simple, but still needs its bracing, which I'll be working on after this short RCC break.

I also recieved a package with these in the mail today :)

These items will complete the AX10 shafty class rig "thumbsup"
