Antique Nikko

I just ran across this antique Nikko RC truck (probably from 90 or 91). Anyways, I got radio, battery for the truck, and charger. The issue is that the front wheels won't turn. The "steering servo" (I use the term loosely) appears very basic. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a replacement or an upgrade to a modern servo.

There is a piece on the front that rocks right or left and connects to the tie rods. The wires appear to be scotch taped to the winding.

I'd love to get this up and running without spending a ton of money. Any suggestions?

well, you could always convert to hobby grade... then just make things fit...

but as far as fixing the stock stuff: I've got no clue...

I vote hobby grade stuff

try taking it to a local appliance repair shop or eletronic repair place,,,never know they may be able to re-wind it or sumtin

Its a solenoid, electromagnet basically. Depending on the polarity it pulls that direction. Looks like a specially made one though, good luck with it.
