801rcc 2014 Crawl Comp, Ultra4 and Trail Event "ShamROCK Showdown"

Oh yeah just about to head down south with the 801rcc crew. Been working on my u4 rig for weeks and now it's time to test it out. And I might have forgot how to drive my 2.2 pro it's been so long.

The wind was a bit rough but other than that Sundays race went really well. This race we started Ultra drivers first followed by Trophy then Trail. Starting 2 rigs at a time meant you got to action and pressure right off the start. The course was fantastic and covered some new ground that we don't usually play on. The course hosted a bunch of challenging lines that really tested your momentum and transition skills, but most of all it was a blast to drive. I was amazed at the pace some of the drivers were running Catfish and Lil Digger were flying and it took me almost 50 gates to finally make a pass to the front. Then there is that maniac, Tuner that finished 30 seconds faster than myself. I got to drive with him a bunch over the weekend and his rig and driving skills are a combo that's damn near untouchable. Great job on the win Tuner. "Fan Favorite", Old man Diddy was clipping along at a good pace too and we all know what a legend Colonel Mustard is, and they didn't disappoint pulling off a well earned 3rd. After I finished my laps I was able to go run with Lil SpEd and man that kid blows my mind with his driving skills. Numerous times I would tell him go easy and take your time only to have him respond with confidence "It's okay, I got this" and then he'd back it up by walking the line with ease. Man if Special get's his rig setup he's going to be a force to recon with in the Trail class. SmokinCamel was on par and making the course looks easy, along with Puffer showing off his recently rebuilt SCX10. The Heat made a come back this month and drove the "Lil Scamper" to an impressive 3rd place finish. Jacer and Moonshine were killing it as usual. Although I only saw them for a second while on course, I did get to see them fun crawling after and was amazed watching them conquer gate 15 (one of the hardest lines on course) with a bit of patience both of them made the line unassisted. Nice driving guys!! I could go on and on about all the fun and action that I saw during the day so I'll just say If you didn't go you missed out on a fantastic event. The whole weekend had a real old school 801 feel to it, with R/C's driving every inch of the park and of course all the usual 801 shinanigins during and after the event. I'm very glad that we made the trip to SG and can't wait for the next one!!
