1938 General Electric Console Radio Resto-Mod

Yeah, I've looked into a bunch of touchscreen gadgets for it. Wife isn't 100% sold on the idea. She wants to put it in the living or dining room and doesn't think "we" will need all the gadget-wizardry in it so we'll see how it shakes out. I kind of figure if it's worth building...:ror:

better to do it now while you still can!

Awesome project! Do you still have the old trailer? Good times were had in there.

Brother has it now. He's using it for his business and he'll take it out on the weekends as well.

Looking good Jason! I would love to have one like this."thumbsup"

Thanks. We'll see how it works out. Trying to keep the design "open" so it can be changed/re-configured later.

:lmao:

Putting the old Craftsman to use. "thumbsup" (still haven't built a cabinet with dust collection for it )

WOW that looks like a professional install right there!

are you a sound system guy?

Thanks, man.

I did installs back in the early 90's. Did things for myself (Denon deck, MB Quart mids/highs, Fosgate woofers, and Audio Control EQTs) and friends. One day I went by a shop I'd heard about. He saw my work and offered me a job. My first task was rebuilding his car. :ror:

Still mess around from time to time. The trick is having the proper tools.

That goes for almost everything in life.

SS

:lmao: True enough.

Getting the horns mounted.

First hole was rough cut with a jig saw.

Then rounded over just like I did for the mids.

These need to be recessed a bit. Can't extend past the face of the baffle because the cloth will be flush against the face.

Checking fit still.

Farm house tables are awesome. Not sure I'd have the room to work on something that big, though - and transporting it would be a PITA.

Made a template from the hole for the first horn to simplify holes for the remaining three.
