Anyone else recieved this email yet?? Thoughts???

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May!
It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action.

The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas .

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.08 at Arco and Costco for regular unleaded in Salem, Oregon and climbing every week.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers .
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!

(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am . so trust me on this one.

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

You want cheaper gas? Use less. No you don't need a halfton truck with 400 hp to drive yourself to work or the store for some milk. But I guess that just makes too much sense

Hell no--and not be able to roll coal on they POS cars behind me :lmao:

I've never even seen an exxon or mobil station in Utah, or any other state I have been to. Don't think they will miss my business.

This is just a rehash of an old email sent out years ago. It does not an will not accomplish crap because it doesn't get to the roots of the issues surrounding the price increase. There are other realistic options that could help.

Don't forget, a lot of those guys have a boat or snowmobiles/watercraft etc to haul to the cabin on weekends, Bobcats or tools and equipment to haul around for work days. Many people with big SUV's have familys to haul to the cabin, soccer games etc. just because you see a single person running to the store for bread and milk in a truck or SUV, don't always assume that that vehicle isn't necessary. Don't forget, not everybody can afford a second, peanut car for running errands. It's usually much smarter for a person to spend a little more on gas for the vehicle that they need most, then to have a 2nd car payment for a car for running errands.

i dont know how it works down there but here in alberta there really is only 2 or 3 producers of gasoline. and a ton of retailers, so they have to get it from somewhere

not going to work

Nice thought in theory but it will NOT fix the issue. Our hands are tied.

RIZ

Only one problem with that theory. Exxon gas is often stored in citgo or chevron tanks and distributed to shell gas stations where valero gas may be stored in a valero tank, but taken that particular day to an Exxon or Texaco gas station and so on and so forth. The person that made up this "theory" should stick to engineering.

Not to be a negative sally, but do you really think avoiding purchasing gas from a certain brand hurts a certain company?

I work for a gas station chain that has non-branded, sunoco, and Mobil branding. You think it's any different? We buy the gas from different suppliers for each fill up in all stores. The only thing Mobil at Mobil is the credit network and branding advertising.

Plus Mobil no longer owns it's own stores - so you're hurting an independent.

One example. We have two stores on each side of an intersection. One is Mobil branded and the other is non-branded. They both have the same exact price on the pump. They both get filled up by the same truck.

If you stop buying gas from our mobil branded shops, you're not hurting mobil. You're hurting us.

BTW.... we sold 550,000 gallons of gas last week at a -2 cent margin. Only so much we can absorb to be competitive in this market where retailers do not want to raise but don't have a choice.

Yeah sure. But pease god don't buy a prius. buy 1980 Rabbit diesel. 50mpg and doesn't have to be shipped across the earth 3 times to be finished.

hell, my 96 ford probe 4cyl gets nearly 40mpg. the US needs to drop it's asinine emissions rules that hurt efficiency then we can truly have cars that get 40, 50+ MPG and don't cost an arm and a leg, and don't have to be made with highly hazardous materials"thumbsup"

Need to add more. Because I can think of so many reasons why this is stupid.

As prices increase, retailers increase price in anticipation of their next refill. But the price in the tanks have not gone up to reflex the price at the pump. If you were to boycott an entire brand and everyone some how got onboard. The station everyone is going to would need to get more refills, more often, with gas prices rising from the distributor. That you'd see a dramatic increase at that stations pump. And the guy now sitting on the gas he paid less for is sitting his tanks - he adjusts to his cost + slight margin and he's back in business, people won't ignore lower prices or they'll think this stupid email is working. It'll all sell lol

Anyways - that email is written by someone who has no concept of how the gas business works. It's not soda.

Nothing will change unless the truck drivers strike. When they get tired of paying 2 times too much for fuel and go on strike, then things will change.
Stop delivery of goods daily and watch Obama squirm.

Cause (high fuel prices)
Effect ( truck drivers go on strike)
Outcome (LOWER FUEL PRICES

He needs to get off his ass and step up about fuel cost. Unless it's his intention for our economy to fail.

Thats very cheap!!
Here in Belgium we pay 7.94029198 USD per gallon
(had to recalculate Liters->gallon,Euro->dollar)
