I picked up a SCX24 a while back and have just been crawling around the living room with it for a while. Eventually got the bug to start doing some things to it.

To date: it’s a mostly stock Deadbolt with Wrangler MTRs, and beadlock wheels. The other day I added a 4 link from Injora, and I have some 48mm shocks on order.

I also ordered a Lindberg 1/20 Syclone model from eBay. That arrived today and I did a quick mock up. Basically just layed the body on top to see what the wheelbase looks like unmodified.

Put a few pieces of the truck together and got a bit closer to ride height for the body. I feel like it should be lower though. I know I’m gonna have to blast out those fenders with a dremel to get it down a bit more. That gives me a bit of anxiety [emoji30][emoji88]

I think before I go any further with mounting the body I’ll install a new servo and get the battery and esc placement sorted out.

That’s a good looking body! If you don’t wanna ruin it, there are also longer shocks. :wink: (also remember telescopic shocks are good for light bodies).

I’ve tried a lot of shocks, and I really like the injora oil shocks. They don’t leak! and a lot of folks think they are too stiff, but if you only insert a tiny bit of oil and check that there isn’t any bubbles in the oil they work fine. I’ll admit it took some time to get them to work really good. But after that I’ve been really happy with them. Don’t bother with the fcx24 oil shocks, they leak. A lot.

Thanks for the suggestions. For now I have some cheap eBay 48mm shocks that just came today. I don’t mind cutting the body, I just get nervous about doing it. I’ve gotten pretty good with the dremel so I have to just get over the initial hesitancy of cutting up a perfect body lol.
I’ll likely run them with no springs, or maybe the stock springs. I’m a sucker for the low mounted truggy look.

Mofo chassis should be here tomorrow.
Shocks arrived as well. Probably run then without springs or maybe the stock springs.
Installed new servo.
Likely going to continue build as a truggy with the Mofo chassis.

MOFO Ugly ASF aluminum chassis installed. Very happy with it so far. Went together nice and easy. Lots of extra screws which is always good.
The weight forward is absolutely killer. Just crawling around in the couch and I can notice a massive improvement.

These crappy eBay shocks are killing me though. They are not very smooth at all. They get stuck closed, they get stuck extended. I guess that’s my fault though, should have went with something better.

I thought about stretching the front a bit but I’m kind of happy with the wheelbase for now.

Next to do is chop up the truck cab and get it fitted.

Little by little I’ve been working on this.
Today I worked out some binding issues by removing one O-ring from each shock and link.

Then I got over my anxiety and starting cutting up the hardbody GMC cab. Got the fit on the rear set up and then finished up one wheel well opening.

Just a quick update. Got the hood and grill glued together. Cut the stock esc tray and used it as a magnet mount. And made a limiting strap from a random piece of cloth strap. Tied it around the top of the battery tray and the top of the 4 link center mount on the servo.

Also received a package via FedEx this morning.
