Typically every year for our Missouri Recon G6 I build myself a rig, complete rebuild on a rig or 2 at once. It all just depends on how I’m feeling.

This years a little different. I’ve already built about 4 rigs this year and bought a few others, so I’ve decided I wanted to build/ help build my wife a g6 rig. She already has a 10.3 gladiator, mainly stock besides wheels, tires and servos. It gets around and she has fun with it. Her favorite thing would be a bright pink rig.

So I did what any sane husband would do, I found a 10.3 kit. Ditched the body, wheels and tires and started buying some parts for it. Built the kit one night and decided she’s gonna have dig and 2 speed.

And I didn’t wanna go lexan. I wanted something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, a hardbody yota. She loves “mini” trucks or baby trucks as she calls them. Any tacoma pre 01 would qualify. I picked up an xtra cab Rc4wd body for it and some stock body mounts, as of right now I cannot find any direct fit body mounts for the 10.3 chassis, I’ll have to make my own.

Dropped the body on just to see

It’ll fit. Needs some trimming and the interior may be a pain but we’ll get it in there. Body and parts are all trimmed. Right now paint is drying and I cannot wait to start putting it together.

I’ve dropped in a fusion 1800 in it and an nsdrc 450b servo is on the way. I’ve already got two shift servos for it as well. I’ll probably grab a gt5 flysky for it as well, since it does have a 6 channel rx and can be had for cheap. It’s also a plus that I use that on my rigs, so it’s familiar to me.

I’m leaning the decorating and scale(ing) up to her. Hopefully she can use her cricket (lol) and 3d printer and get creative, that’s a department I lack in.

Paint has been laid. I must be patient but I really want to start assembling the body. Haven’t actually put together an Rc4wd body yet, so it’ll be fun. Hopefully, if I don’t glue my fingers together the whole time.

It’s a little cold outside, but it’s sunny. They are sitting in the garage window with a little buddy heater going nearby to help.

Super cool, your wife is lucky. I am currently working a twentyfour scale build I am calling Mr. Pink. Those wheels are sweet. What flavor of pink did you go for on the body? I got a can of Rustoleum Pink bright neon color, I’m hoping it will be uv reactive. Can’t wait to see this truck finished.

Nice! I’m never a fan of pink builds until my wife wants it lol.

The body paint is electric pink from testors. It looks good, I just wish it was more hot pink lie she likes. The wheels are the color she really likes but she said she likes the body. And it’s good too, because these bodies are a pita to put together lol.

I tossed up several ideas of how I wanted to mount the body before I even got it but I decided I was just gonna cut the bed for the shock towers. Didn’t want to hinder performance any more. I’m already going down to small 1.9 and for the trails we do, it’s gonna turn into a struggle bus for the rig already.

Still have more trimming to do for the interior to fit but that’s another days project.

I was hoping to have the body “rest” on the sliders and I can make mounts off them and that’s where it ended up.

I’m hoping for my body to be a bit more like her wheels too. I’m going for annoyingly bright pink, lol.

Quick update to the truck. Tire size was so wrong before with the Kevlars so I went down to a 4.19.

These tires fit the build much better and keeps me from having to trim the wheel wells.

Nice. I wish I could get my family into this. I'm considering going to that G6. I really enjoyed the few I have been to.

If I do go I'll say hi...you'll be easy to spot.

Yeah, we have three boys and they all are with us when we go. We’ve been going to the g6 for 10+ years. Except for Covid times lol

We will likely be hanging around the mid ozark scalers area on the far right if you do!

One giant leap for me. The front body mounts are in and the body is 50% attached to the chassis.

Used some servo mounts and screws to attach it to the sliders. Body actually rests on the sliders.

It may not look like much but it works and it’s sturdy.

The bed has a u channel attached underneath and it so conveniently fits into the chassis brace. Just had to trim a slight bit to fit the channel.

Onto the interior. I’m not excited for that. Hopefully the back of the dash takes most of the clearance trims.

Interior is hacked up, tried my best not to take away too much but it happened. Lost a pedal and a shifter by over cutting. Oh well, interiors aren’t too expensive and I can try to get the next one cut a little closer.

Have to clean up the cuts and crap then it’s on my wife to scale it up!

I am having the hardest time with the Injora JK on the 10.3 chassis with the trimming (not wanting to take too much) and attachment.

It’s definitely easier than other trans but it’s still a pita. Marking and cutting and marking and cutting makes me lose patience but it turned out decent.

I told the wife to make some rubber floor mats to cover some of the floor board cuts. I also kind of want to put it on the front side of the dash, under the steering wheel to close up some gaps. Hoping the scale stuff inside helps hide the cuts lol

One of the most waited on parts came for this rig. I was searching and searching for one and came up with nothing.

I contemplated yanking the nsdrc special edition boobie (breast cancer) servo out of my scale tacoma build but just couldn’t do it.

Powerhobby had just the one I needed! This one will work fine with 500oz torque and a pink servo horn to boot!

Now, I can hook up all the electronics. Gt5 tx and shift servos and steering. Need to do an indoor test run with it for the body clearance and see how that is. Excited it’s coming together!
