Very interesting, i was checking out the specs and stumbled into what i hope is typo? max rtr with battery weight is 2.25lb??
Maybe thats in Kilograms? if so its about 5 lbs
EDIT: I just checked the old Micro X and the non crawler version also says up to 2.25 lbs, but the crawler version says up to 8lbs when crawling and 4 lbs if rock bouncing. Anyway the 2.25 lb rating is unlikely to be for crawlers.

The Micro was initially targeted at 1:18 go fast vehicles but were adapted to slower crawlers without issue.
It’s still only a 2amp internal BEC so you’ll need and external BEC or direct powered steering servo.

Sure makes more sense, i have been running mamba 25s on a couple supers since way back, only 55t motor or og revolvers and external bec, no problems at all.

Am32 is open source. Castle could very easily change their code to be quieter by using that part of am32. I believe the quieter run algorithm produces less power though. This is why castle has stuck with their method. Most people have never cared as most people use inrunners where the sound is much less.
Personally I think castle should just make a firmware update that adds the quiet mode as a brushless option. But maybe the chips don't have the memory for both. But they could also just have a separate firmware branch too.
Seems like it might also create a mass of customer support issues too though. Give people too many options and they will find too many ways to complain...

i run a 2700 Puller Pro stubby with a micro x and it runs great on my Gspeed V3. I run the same set up on one of my phoenixs and runs pretty quiet and its pretty low in weight. I have a 2000kv outrunner on my other Gspeed with the Crawlmaster Mini and its smooth as butter and cant hear much but the gears, but i am always worried with the exposed chip and it costing $120 for the bare board makes my anxiety go crazy. the micro x and the puller pro i just go nuts and run it for days. The tourque of the outrunner and the smoothness is addicting though, guess thats why i cant stop freaken making rigs. smh
BTW a Micro X esc weighs about 40Grams, the Crawlmaster Mini weighs about 30, an AM32 chip with wires and an external weighs about 40grams. The savings will be in the motor depending on what you get. FYI

They provide heatshrink with the Crawlmaster mini ESCs so once you've assembled it and conformal coated it (they recommend this) and put the heatshrink on its all protected and covered, no exposed chip.
I'm still hoping for a Crawlmaster ESC that's truly RTR, already soldered, and preferably encased.
There's plenty of room on the market for the current version for those who want to DIY (and save a few grams) as well...
I do realize that without being partnered up with Castle as Holmes was for his older ESCs will likely make this take some time, but it would still be fantastic.

I just purchased an RTR Crawlmaster Mini V2 from DLuxFab. I don't know if they are simply soldering up kits and selling them as RTR's, or if it's an official release of an RTR by Holmes Hobbies that they got first - because I haven't heard any annoucements of an RTR. But I can confirm it was fully-assembled and works perfectly in my rig. It's not encased. Just heat shrinked.

They also sell the AM32 Programming Adapter you need to configure the ESC.
