A Yeti for the Alllgäu or my little monster

Put my little Monster apart. Time for a great inspection.

First i took my SSD axle apart.
All looks really well Found the following.

First dirt dirt and more dirt

Axles still straight, bearings ok, diff Mash used but no issues. Axial Locker still ok.

Only issue found a little rust on the right axle. Nothing wd40 and little grinding can't fix. [emoji4]

If i have it apart i wanted to install my torgue master spool, but the ssd axles won't fit with out massive grinding. Is there an alternative? Which spool do you use in combination with ssd wide axles. Can get the inscision spool from a vendor here in germany. any experiences ?

Next will be the front which will get a new goodie[emoji2].

Installing the spool the screws used before are too Long.

I used my dtemel to shorten them.

If you want to order right length you need 2mm * 6mm.

Will get some on next screw order.

After i get rid of my last rounded screw. I could inspect the transmission.8)
Found same Dirt as in the rear axle. So i cleaned up all. 2 Bearings where gone so i changed them. Major issue i found was that the slipperplate grinded into my Transmission mount as you see in the pic below.

so i ordered some spare parts

after i put all together i check how that could happen but found no issue, maybe it happend as my motor get loose.

On a closer look i found two places in the transmission where bearings could fit as addition. so i installed two extra bearings. One between t-case and gearbox and one on the input side of the gearbox.

I also changed 2. Gear to the highspeed option, cause i wanted more difference between 1st and 2nd gear.

Did you do anything special to keep your shocks from leaking?

No nothing special. Only thing i did, that was not in the manual. is that i used silicon grease when installing the o-rings. i use every time a little grease when installing o-rings so nothing special.

so what was your fix to the slipper hub rubbing on the gear cover? i got the same problem.

so what was your fix to the slipper hub rubbing on the gear cover? i got the same problem.

I checked after reassembling, and found no issue. It is moving smooth and no rubbing/grinding right now. 8) Maybe a loosen screw, but that's just a guess. When my little monster is ready to run again, I have to have a look at this.

Next Step
Changed all Connections from 6.5mm single bullets to castle 6.5mm connectors.

Next issue i Found was on the rear shox the rod end started to Break.
Which would be a good replacement? In the same length.

till i find the right One i will use my New proline xt in the rear. Starting with 500 cst and the installed Springs.

And i add a New Tool to my Box screw retainer, should have got it earlier.

I have to learn to control my little Monster better in the air.

After a bad landing with a hugh tumble. I manage to break 2 HD rod ends of my SSD trailing arms and lost the spline of the wild boar in the gras. Just replaced the rod ends and used another spline from the tree.

What size hubs do you use on rear wheels?

Had time to Run a few Packs throu my little monster.

Found next part that didn't hold up. Had a nasty klicking if i hit the break. There was play in the outputs of the bulkhead, that caused lose of Mesh in the diff. Ring and pinion are looking OK.

8dc34c41ba7b6fc4506d372cb1749b8b.jpg

Ordered the gpm Alu bulkhead.

Also managed to Toast my Spur gear. So I changed gearing to 56t/16t this time Steel.

Next i found my insicion cvd's loosing a pin, maybe caused by the slope in the outputs.

Will try to press it back.

Steering Link got out of the rodend
