LNC Project: "Crawling Dragon".

Here are some pictures of my battery tray. The pictures aren't new (I don't use that motor, battery and ESC now), but the tray remains the same.

My first attempt was made of some crappy black plastic from a scrapped toy truck. It didn't do the job so I made a new from 3mm acrylic glass that I happened to have at home. (Use what material you have!)

The length of the tray is the same as the battery I use. The battery is held in place by two velcro straps, one lengthwise around the battery and tray, the two elongated holes are to let the cross-strap through and the distance between them match the first battery type I used.

You can see there's some vertical distance between the tray and links. I need this to avoid contact between the drive shaft and tray when the suspension is compressed.

With the LNC drive shafts, that are thinner, I expect a lesser distance to be sufficient.

Some of the negativity in this thread is appalling…why someone would come into someone's thread and try to crush their enthusiasm and joy is beyond me…and telling someone that they are wasting their time on a "dead" platform when the thread is posted in a forum that is dedicated to this particular platform is counterproductive at best (as far as doing things that support people's efforts to get involved with and latch onto RC crawling and the hobby in general) and I'd rather not spew the foul language required to describe what it is at its worst

I think you did a great job on this rig and have done a great job of achieving what you were after - and you have a solid foundation for taking things up a notch if you choose to

Please ignore the haters and keep us updated on any additional progress - oh, and let me know if you talk your sponsor into those metal transmission gears :)

Thanks Mudholestomper...
Ever since i did the Crawling Prius project i can handle negative comments. I consider them not to be meant personal. Especially since the LNC Version 2.0 has pretty nice salesnumbers. Revived from the dead i guess..... :ror:

The Crawling Dragon is still up for minor modifications. Also thanks to some great input here. Others have to wait due to parts hard to get here in this part of Europe (yes, i know Ebay, but i also know the shippingscosts).

So far i am very pleased with the capabilities of the LNC. However, this is my first typical crawler, so i am pleased pretty fast :lmao:.

Time for some recent pic's!

MaFoDes - your positivity and overall positive attitude is very valuable and welcome, not only with those of us who love our little toy cars, but to the world in general…I know that sounds corny, but I think your good attitude in the face of negativity is something we all can learn from/benefit from - keep up the good work my friend!

Oh…and one more thing…did I mention that you really ought to push your sponsor for metal transmission gears for the nightcrawler?

metal transmission gears for the nightcrawler?

Gears, sponsor. Huh? :ror:8). They would look into it. Processes that may take a while i guess.

Thank you sir. However, that did not come overnight... After my divorce i severed from a major depression. Also thanks to the Rc hobby - building my cars, making video's on 'm, i struggled my way up. I did resolve that i want to be positive, be a good person, being kind (without being a ***** 8)).
That's also why i am trying to be an "ambassador" for the hobby, since it means that much to me.

Nice buildthread!

Hope to see you in Spaarnwoude for a nice day of crawling.

Let's meet in Spaarnwoude soon... Then you can try it out with some other crawlers from the Netherlands.. ;)

And we are going international, there will be drivers from Belgium to ;-)

Just picked up a lnc 2,0 and I love it, would you photo or explain the grease nipple or tell us did you change it from the first photo? I'm running 3s with a 14t pinion and 1.4 springs and 25 wt shock oil.

I used a M3 screw, but i will change it to M4 thread. It is still a bit hard to get the grease in with the seringe. I hope that 1mm extra will make a difference. However, using the "greasingnipple" makes maintanance easier now, even as it is right now with M3.

Last week i switch the gears in the rear axle back to stock. Did not have a chance yet to try what difference it makes.
You will enjoy that V2.0! I love my LNC.

I think mine is M5.

Can be seen here.

And also with the mod to increase steering.

To get the grease in I use a plastic syringe where I've threaded the tip so that I can just screw it into place before pushing in the grease.

Thanks for the advice, winter is all most here and I'll soon take it apart especially the axles to check for grease and while it's apart drill and tap the plastic for a grease port."thumbsup"
