I REALLY need a holster made as it seems that no one makes what I want. I have spent the better part of 2 days looking at all the same stuff no matter who makes them. I really want a hand tooled holster and double mag holder in a mahogany or sienna, a basket weave would be great. Right now, Plain leather would be great.

The problem I am running into is i need a basic field holster. Something that hangs with the butt at the belt or a touch above. Something that won't interfere when I am getting on, driving and getting off my tractor, where i need to turn both left and right for backing when using the box blade and when aligning some of the other implements. Something that won't get in the way when I heave my big butt onto and off of my 4 Wheeler and something that when I fight my way through a thicket, i don't leave my pistol hanging on a briar. If I was carrying a wheel gun, this would be easy. But a 1911 seems impossible. Especially a 4" barrel. I carry a Kimber Pro Crimson Carry II.

I think my next step is to look at Police leather. Bulkier than I wanted but the carry position is perfect.

I would check with a local, Motorcycle shop and see if they know a leather guy. My dad got a nice custom holster made from a guy who does side bags and other motorcycle stuff. Just a thought

avoid Rafters Gunleather. My first set holsters are awesome got them in 2001. Had a couple built for my full frame 1911, then somewhere around 2008 they took to swindling people.

Who ever you pick research them.

The 1911 is on their gun list.(gun list tab to the left)

I bought a Tucker holster for my dad for fathers day. He has an older 7 shot Taurus revolver that holsters are practically non-existant for.

Custom field type holsters here also. Cattleman

The 1911 is highly popular so there are tons of holsters available for it. There are a lot of other holster makers out there that I did not list also. In my favorites tab in my browser I have over 100 holster makers bookmarked and that is just scratching the surface. Got to search the net.

I will Check out the Cattleman, already saw the Tucker's and didn't find anything that fit mine properly. The problem is, if you want a field holster, the assumption is made that you have a standard GI 1911 or a long slide. I have a Kimber Pro Crimson Carry II which has a 4" barrel (similar to a Colt Commander) and if it is a custom, like a Tucker, it has to have the laser bump on the top of the grip. Paying for a so called "custom" that is made for a generic gun is not going to happen

In my OP, I stated I had spent 2 days looking online. As I am retired that really does mean 2 days. I also found a huge number of 1911 holsters, almost all for a 5". At this point, I am going to try Dwaneo on here and look locally for a maker that can make what I want for my gun, not a generic 1911.

For the time being, I have a MOLLE II vest and holster I can use.

A website often shows only a small representation of what they do. Only way you are going to find out for sure if they can do it is to contact them. A 4"1911 is still super common, nothign special about it. The bump on the grip for the laser is no big deal. The holster maker could get around that putting a dowel on the blue gun to form the holster.

Diamond D Custom Leather in Wasilla Alaska (yes, thats HER town) is the place to go. Very nice work, wide range of fit weapons and fair prices. This is what I got:

$210 delivered. 4 to 6 weeks so should have it in time for Xmas. Funny that he has my exact pistol in the model. Better that seeing a Blue mold gun.

Thanks for all the input.

Looks awesome! I've been looking for a CCW holster for my PX4 sub c... if I had known that they were so hard to find, I would have gone with a M&P or XD... oh well just an excuse to buy another handgun. :P
