i played with my comp rigs yesterday at warrior point for the awcc qualifier and the terrain is sick. no trees but tons of useable areas. there was rock that looked like they poured into a pile out of a cement mixer then troweled some areas that were so slick my tires would not bite, total traction then oil slick right around the corner. the "tufa" was it's usual self, and the upper slick rock area was a lot of "riprap" with many usable areas.

there is plenty of room for camping with lots of flat ground but a little rocky off of the beach. you need a permit for day use and camping. there is a terribles gas station on pyramid hiway and across the hiway a 7-11 that sells them, it's a big intersection, you can't miss it or get them at the store in sutcliffe on the north end, look for the black water tower.

i hope i get my truck fixed, lost a tranny coming home, this is gonna be epic. imagine looking across the desert at night and seeing 20 or so lights and rigs negotiating around in the dark off in the distance.

i heard at some point during the stages we will worship the gods for safe passage on the lake, an indian ritual, and who knows what will surface out of it with the stories i've heard about pyramid and it's past.

hope too see ya'll next week for your G6 fix.

G6 Drivers are you in for a day and night of scale r/c driving. The tufa trials is going to be a blast.

Several of us are camping out Frday and Saturday nights, but remember to purchase your camping and/or day use permits from the 7-11, Terribles, or Res Store.

Until then, LIGHTS, LIGHTS, LIGHTS..."thumbsup"

The RECON G6 Challenge has lit up the night with its first night stages in the Tufa Trials. G6 Drivers tested their r/c scale driving skills on 5 stages; two of which were night stages.

The G6 Tufa Trials took place at Warrior Point located at the North end of Pyramid Lake, NV. The unique rock formations were formed under water and have turned into what I like to call prehistoric coral. Some of the Tufa rock is the most aggressive rock that you’ll ever drive on; while some sections look like honey comb cereal and has little to no traction. Besides the ever changing traction of the Tufa, G6 Drivers face loaming sand and one foot waves crashing on the beach. The conditions went from spring time to “oh my, it’s cold” and drivers were pushed to their limits. This is a RECON G6 Challenge and our G Family of r/c scalers came ready for the darkness.

With G6 Drivers like the “Silent Stage Ninja”, “Broken Nib”, and “Uni-bomber”; rest assured, something is going to blow up, break, or fall out of the darkness and cut your controller hand off. In fact, the G6 will not only test your r/c scale driving ability and your r/c scalers capability; the G6 will push you to new level of fun. Fun to some finally getting the winch recovery perfect or driving a skill section that they thought was not possible and yet fun to some is pushing themselves beyond their comfort zone. One such driver did just that, Nissan Driver sprained his ankle and his lovely girlfriend, Sarah wrapped it up and Nissan Driver finished in phamtastic style by putting his Axial Honcho on the podium. What a “Phamtacular” performance from a driver that is always up for his fix in a RECON G6!

The RECON G6 Challenge would like to thank its two newest sponsors; Poly Performance and Rock Star Energy Drink. Rock Star is the official energy drink of the RECON G6 and ensures that a driver won’t fall asleep during a night stage. Poly Performance is the off road super store. From r/c to atv, Poly Performance has got you covered.

Thank you to the rest of our sponsors, Axial Racing; check out their G6 proven SCX-10 based product line at axialracing.com. Vanquish Products, the place to go for high quality after-market accessories. Pit Bull Tires, get hooked up! Gold Country R/C and the TCS provide everything a scaler might need.

I had a blast at the Tufa Trials. I Enjoyed the G-Dinner with friends and family, trading stories around the campfire, and working G-Central with Chasinbaja and my daughter made this G6 very special to me. Thank you to Mike See, Sumquack, Tree, Unibomber, and special thanks to Glen Samonte and Brad Macy.

A huge THANK YOU to all the G Drivers who battled weather conditions, tough stages, and the water babies; who claimed several trail markers, a couple of scalers, and I’m sure had a hand in Axial Racing’s Thom K. to H.O.G. a stage after falling 80 feet to the beach below. I am proud to call Thom K. an Axial teammate. He is a great ambassador for Axial and his patience and knowledge really helped a young scaler to finish 3 out of 5 stages.

This was one of the closest G6 finishes to date. The water babies tried to mess with G-Central, but they didn’t stand a chance with my daughter and Spucknit behind the helm.

Here are the results:
