MSD UTE build: The Blue Lux

I really need to get a transfer case and a trans set up...how are the HPI units? I see a lot of them popping up lately. I was going to use a gd600 but I keep hearing it wont hold up :(

compact and so far durable for me, all metal gears inside. its 7.4:1 reduction and your stuck with that unless you can mod the case for motor movement.

i can take pics internally of mine tonight if you want.

I hate you. You make me wanna build another yota, so I will, but I will sell it shortly after, because it isnt as cool as yours

what did you end up doing for the steering servo ?
i tried to order one of those fenders from RPP and he said he was fresh out...
and harley said he only has the LR3 ones left.

"thumbsup"

Do you know where I can purchase one from? I definitely need one and a t-case...Do have any recommendations on a case? I was looking at that disruptor one from rc4wd.

:ror::ror: I wonder if Josh even knows about this big joke...

I dont have any extra steering servos, but when I do get one it will be chassis mounted, either to the side of the frame rails or to the front cross member

I told you guys I had a kick ass rear window for this "thumbsup"

reign products/Kaetwo always puts out some of the nicest and best working products. The rear half back/window set up fit just as good as the full back one.

Naturally a regular rear window wouldnt do, so I got the hook up on a custom etched one

I also recycled a Bruiser front body mount, I drilled and tap the frame and mount it to the bottom side of the frame. Worked out real nice, by body height is exactly where I wanted it. Now I just need to work on a rear set up and then I can build my bumpers and sliders

More soon guys

I got mine from Liquid for around 18 shipped
http://www.liquidrc.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=236671_237&products_id=56954
CKRC has them too for a couple bucks more and HPI is 22+ s/h direct.

I have one hooked up to the FB using Eritex's Atlas case. With 2.2 tires and a 35T motor it stalls on a climb. If I use the throttle and keep the wheel speed or just try and bounce it over things it works great.

I ran Cliff Climber tires on the FB with a 55T and it didnt stall as much but on a 2S pack I can only get one course per pack.

I dont know how well it will work with 1.9's, thats my concern with my Tundra and the Killer case I have. Im nervous itll not be enough reduction with a 1:1 case. Big Tex did that to me with the GD600 and the Killer, top end was a race horse but I couldnt get off the line at all.

That window came out great "thumbsup"

Now lay a couple 3mm leds on the bottom edge of the lexan and light that etch up for those nite crawls ;-)

i know mike exactly where you work, lol, next time i go down there i am stopping in, and yes, duffy's has the best grub ever, lol

this truck looks great, great job

ummm sweet nice body work

Interesting, most seem to dig the fender...thanks for the feedback though "thumbsup"

Would you believe I have never been in there? I get a bagel off the coffee truck and generally skip lunch so I have never been in there.

Here are updates from today, I wrenched on thing thing ALL DAY...I got a lot more done then I expected, the paint got even more FUBAR'd on the Camaro project when I went to clear the front clip and the paint peeled up :x:x so I decided to just dunk the clip into the castrol super clean and work on this thing.

The rear bumper was actually built by Chino63, he had sent it to me some time ago when I got the front bumper for the clone. I had been waiting for something to use it on and it looks great on here I think. Its a simple design and shouldnt hang me up. All I did was build some brackets to attach it and I shorten up the ends of it a little bit

Thanks for looking, more to come

Also I am sure some noticed that the bedsides pitched in, just kinda happened after everything cured, however I already had a plan for to fix that and strengthen the bed since the tail gate is off. When I was in Moab for the 07 Nats, Miniwheeler (jim) had his bad ass yota there

MOAB505.jpg

Which had no tail gate, the truck later rolled over in the hot tub but because he had these cool supports in the bed the the bed sides didnt crush in so I made some for mine
