In the event of a tie, I believe the winner is determined by a rock-paper-scissors best two out of three match. :lol:
IN all seriousness, I believe that there would be a run-off of a newly set-up set of gates on a course if there were a tie. "thumbsup"

Its also common to use this method for anything below 1st place ties
In the event of a tie score the competitor with the lowest score on the final course
run is considered the winner. If both competitors are also tied on the final course run then the second to
the last course run will be used, and so on.
For first place I personally would do a crawl-off

What I would give to have a store, let alone a Hobby Town, stay open and continue to support a facility like that!!!!! Nothing like that ever has been here where I am from. Our Hobby Towns are pretty paltry in fact. The people know very little about what they sell, and they sell very little.

Completely agree. Our Hobbyclowns are a joke around here. Only time I go in there is if I know they have a part, never to ask questions or seek advice. The rest of the hobby shops cater to racers. Anything crawling related around here needs to be mail ordered. If you guys have good hobby shops in your area, support them.

Yeah it's the nicest a facility/store that I have ever seen and even if they don't know the answer to a question or about a product they really try to help. Probably the secret to this center's success.
They have been great with all the goofy special orders I have placed and are typically the same price as Tower Hobbies or other other discounters.
We have another HobbyTown (a VERY SMALL shop) closer to were I work, but nothing like "The Plex" (HobbyTown Hobby Plex).

It must be expensive. $5000 in entry fees, Plus all the sponsors money. Thats a lot of foam and rocks. this should be the Taj Mahal of rock crawling.

Our goal is to make this the best Indoor crawling event all year and hopefully successful enough that HobbyTown wants to host this and other events going forward. No one has talked about scale builds, but I will bring up the idea. ;-)
We ARE spending a huge chunk of change on the courses. Keep in mind, we still have additional prizes to buy (yep, not everything is a sponsor giveaway), t-shirts, logo development, venue hosting fees, and other costs as well. In fact I have been sweating the budget and hoping we have enough to do everything we want. :shock:

Well next years event shouldn't cost as much, as you can use the courses from this year, just rearranged and maybe only a couple of new ones. What is the actual dollar amount it costs to put this thing on. I would like to do this in Texas.

One would hope, but as with anything else there will have to be replacements, repairs, and expansion. "thumbsup"
On costs there are a lot of factors. If you have lots of existing structures and rock, no venue costs, skip the t-shirts & extras, forget the giveaways and just do a simple indoor comp, then the cost probably wouldn't be horrible, but still more expensive than most outdoor comps. For our course, we started at pretty much zero, so we had a long way to go to live up to the expectations of last year's comp. We are also investing more to make it a nicer overall event. Our hope is that this will just get bigger and better each year.
When do we get to see some pics of the course.
