Yeti XL stutters when crawling

I recently purchased my first high end rc, yeti XL, and I love trying to crawl with it. However I've noticed that when I am going extremely slow, my truck starts to stutter. Is this a normal thing? I tightened my slipper gear down so the tires wouldn't spin and I adjusted the mesh on the pinion gear in so it meshes better with the spur gear. When I watch videos of people crawling with their ayxl I don't see their rigs stuttering. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!
 
It's called cogging. Brushless motors are not nearly as smooth as brushed at low speed. While burshless is better suited for higher speed rigs, companies like Holmes Hobbies and Castle have sensored brushless systems that are more crawler friendly. The XL is a LARGE rig to be crawling with. It's more of a rock racer but still big for that. I would look at a new sensored brushless system, or for not much more than what that will run you, buy a used SCX10, Ascender or something along those lines if you're looking for true crawling and trailing.

I know not the Yeti XL, but what electronics are in it? it will help folks here to know
 
Thanks for the tip MN84, I would hardly consider what I've been doing as true crawling, I understand that it is more of a rock racer and it does a fantastic job doing so. I will definitely consider getting an SCX10 if I really get into crawling.

SMOG, my rig is an rtr, with vanguard AE4, and I just switched out my steering servo for the third time from the tsx45 to a savox digital 1210. So far I have been really happy with this rig minus the tsx45 bull.
 
As Ascender'nMN said, it is the nature of unsensored brushless electronics. They just don't give you low end control on the throttle.

I have a regular yeti and when I take my son on the trails with his barrage, my yeti looks silly twitching along with his awesome little budget truck.

you could put sensored brushless motor/esc, that greatly reduces (almost eliminates but much better than before) the cogging effect.

That makes sense, the low speed hesitates the motor.
 
Get a smaller pinnion gear it will help alot with the low speed cogging also get a castle link and upgrade the software on your esc it will have better start up propertys also i run my rtr yxl on 3s at %80 power to avoid breakage these things get exspensive on 6s lol

The sensorless brushless motor that comes with the kit (or any sensorless brushless motor) doesn't like to go slow. Going sensored would greatly improve its slow speed abilities but its pretty spendy to do so, it requires a new ESC and Motor both of which aren't cheap.

Gearing it down is likely the easiest thing you can do to improve it.
